Your Key Responsibilities
- Be the subject matter expert in various facets of production and manufacturing, including process development, process analysis, capacity analysis, and cost analysis. This comprehensive knowledge will be leveraged to provide suggestions to leadership to improve and streamline manufacturing processes.
- Develop innovative solutions to manufacturing production problems and implement robust solutions through proven manufacturing processes. Consult with suppliers and solicit feedback from operators for the optimal solutions.
- Design and optimize work cell layouts and process flows, ensuring an efficient and effective production environment.
- Increase manufacturing efficiency by improving work methods, material flow, tooling/jigs/fixtures, plant layout, routings, establishing training when required, & computer programs/systems. All new process initiations are to be analyzed for financial payback, quality enhancement, etc.
- Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas of production.
- Creation of standard operating procedures (SOP) capturing current production processes while implementing safety, ergonomic, and production rate improvements.
- Work with design engineering team to drive design for manufacturability, improve efficiencies, and overall product quality.
- On demand support to manufacturing when issues with process, procedure, or manufacturability arise.
- Addresses issues found through exception events (such as non-conformances, temporary deviations, etc.) through the identification of root cause and corrective actions.
Your Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment including: lean tools, automation, and capital projects.
- A thorough understanding of light steel fabrication, machining, and assembly processes (roll forming, welding, sawing, milling, turning, fastening, etc.).
- Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing experience with knowledge of lean manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Previous experience related to implementation of new products, new equipment, new processes, and product changes in manufacturing.
- A track record of problem solving, identifying errors and deficiencies and implementing improvements.
- Effective communication with production teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain high level of accuracy.
