Responsibilities
The work environment includes collaboration with cross-functional teams, utilizing SolidWorks CAD software, conducting analyses, developing prototypes, and interacting with manufacturing staff to improve design and production processes. The role involves mentoring the engineering team and potentially moving into a leadership position. The position requires detailed documentation, technical drawing interpretation, and quality support investigations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The company is an industry leader in designing, manufacturing, and distributing suspended access equipment used in industrial and commercial construction and maintenance applications.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and customers to understand design requirements and translate them into manufacturable solutions.
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Conduct stress, deflection, and other analyses to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory specifications.
- Develop and document detailed engineering drawings, including parts bills of materials and assembly instructions.
- Prepare and maintain product documentation, including customer cut-sheets, reference drawings, installation and operating manuals, and calculations to support equipment designs.
- Participate in the development and testing of prototypes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Work closely with manufacturing to identify potential production challenges and recommend design improvements for cost reduction and manufacturability.
- Support quality staff with investigation of product/equipment for out of specification conditions, assembly/use difficulties, and/or failures to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations for improvements.
- SolidWorks expertise
- Mechanical design experience
- EIT certification
- Structural design knowledge
- Stress analysis proficiency
- Ability to demonstrate calculations on structures ensuring design meets requirements
- Leadership experience
- 10+ years of Mechanical Design Engineer experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- At least 3 years of design experience with SolidWorks CAD software (recent experience)
- Strong experience with stress analysis and structural design, particularly with suspended access systems
- Interest in pursuing and attaining PE License (PE License preferred)
- Machine design proficiency
- Blueprint reading skills
