Aerospace & Defense startup currently in Stealth based in El Segundo, made up of former SpaceX, Anduril, and Lockheed engineers, to develop and mass produce life-saving systems. Backed by joint staff level military leadership and several major SV firms, their first product is designed for immediate deployment around the world.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled mechanical design engineer with a strong design and testing background. You will design , prototype, analyze, and test complex vehicle and ground based structures for aerospace rocket/missile systems. You will own system components, subassemblies, architecture, and products from conception through to integrated testing and manufacture and be responsible for performance by executing analysis and environmental testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the design and development of next generation structures, mechanisms, and electromechanical hardware.
  • Perform hand calculations and to develop, assess, and optimize designs.
  • Perform computational analysis on complex designs exposed to harsh conditions.
  • Interpreting and applying standards such as MIL-STD-810H.
  • Rapidly iterate on manufacturing processes and development testing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead design reviews internally and externally with suppliers and customers
  • Negotiate complex trade studies to optimize for cost, schedule, safety, and performance, among other considerations.
  • Exemplify technical excellence and be accountable for your work.


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in Mechanical Design role experience in Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Bachelor's in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • High proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo/ProE, NX, or Catia.
  • Experience designing sheet metal/weldment-based structures.
  • Extensive experience with analysis tools such as Ansys.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional team environment.
  • Involvement in a professional engineering society or collegiate design project.
