We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and enhancement of innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical products. This role is pivotal in managing projects from conception to production, ensuring they meet customer expectations, budget constraints, and schedule requirements. The ideal candidate will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate across multiple departments to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development:
- Conceptualize and develop new designs, following through all key stages: concept, technical drawings, prototype reviews, cost management, sourcing, and product launch.
- Develop mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for lift products, including definition, prototyping, testing, debugging, qualification, and production release.
- Optimize product concepts for functionality, manufacturability, material handling, and cost-effectiveness.
- Generate and test prototypes, ensuring functionality, performance, and timing objectives are met.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Review and approve engineering drawings with critical dimensions, performance specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Develop and evaluate cost analyses for new or modified concepts.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards such as FDA, CE, UL, FCC, and coordinate product compliance testing.
Project Oversight:
- Oversee engineering efforts for projects involving contract design firms.
- Manage and review Intellectual Property (IP) related to current and new products.
- Plan and execute test plans, ensuring quality and consistency in testing and reporting.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with internal teams to address design, manufacturing, and quality issues.
- Provide support for the Technical Service team to address product quality challenges.
- Engage in special projects, including competitive product evaluation, structural assessments, and new process development.
Requirements
Work Experience:
- 6+ years of professional experience in product engineering, design, and testing.
- Proven experience in mechanical and electro-mechanical system design and development.
- Expertise in 3D CAD design, preferably with SolidWorks.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Design for Test (DFT), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), DFMEA/PFMEA, FEA, GD&T, and root cause investigations.
- Knowledge of design control and validation processes.
- Familiarity with engineering documentation systems like PDM.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to mentor and provide technical oversight for junior engineers.
