Overview

As a Code Compliance Engineer Lead (PE, you will play a crucial role at the company by quarterbacking the review of construction plan sets for code compliance, aiding in obtaining commercial building permits for our customers, and providing excellent customer service for our customers. Your primary responsibility is reviewing construction plan sets for code compliance, coordinating "discipline reviewers" to help review those plan sets and quality checking their work, and communicating directly with the customer and their architect and engineering teams on revisions needed for code compliance. You will primarily interface with the Operations team consisting of Permit and Review Operations, as well as clients and city/county building departments.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting plan review for our customers which will include discipline level review, coordination of discipline reviewers, and checking discipline reviewer comments for quality and consistency
  • Interfacing directly with customers and their AOR/EORs on review comments, providing clarity throughout the review and permitting process, and keeping internal and external stakeholders aligned on the permitting and review process
  • Signing and sealing plans for submission to building departments as well as working with the Permit Ops team and directly with the city/county building departments for any follow ups needed
  • Gathering supporting documents (internally, and obtaining them from clients externally via software/email), completing applications and submitting them to local and state government agencies - typically building/construction permits
  • Supporting the GLX Team (permit operations and GTM team) as well as cross-functionally on items such as miscellaneous permits, customer communications, building out better internal and external process and working with the product and engineering team on product feedback
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders (internal and external) stay up to date by diligently updating trackers / reporting systems, frequent communication and following and improving on team processes

Education

  • Bachelors Degree - Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering

Certifications/Licenses

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

Must-Have Skills

  • 5-7+ years of experience A&E experience with some professional experience Florida including submitting applications for permits and resolving AHJ comments in order to receive required permits for construction
  • Experience as the Engineer of Record (EOR) for several projects in client facing opportunities
  • Strong communication skills via both written and verbal mediums; both with internal teams and in a client facing role
  • Independently motivated, but willing to work with a team - able to work independently on assigned projects, but also willing to assist teammates and ask for help from teammates when needed
