SHIFT DETAILS:

Monday-Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY: TheSenior Metrologist is primarily responsible for the following:
  • Support the design, development, implementation, optimization, and data interpretation of products manufactured and measured per the manufacturing requirements.
  • Evaluate new and existing equipment profiles to ensure robust metrology tooling is suitable to support our customer base.
  • Train and develop engineering and quality personnel to manage and use metrology equipment effectively.
  • Develop and manage the documentation for all metrology equipment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Provide experienced GD&T interpretation of drawing requirements to ensure accuracy of parts evaluated.
  • Create, customize, and optimize various metrology equipment to ensure conformance to the customer requirements.
  • Conduct detailed analysis and validation of inspection systems to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and reliability.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of inspection systems, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommends CMM tooling, fixtures, etc. to increase efficiency and provide ideas to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and reliability, based on detailed analysis and validations of available inspection resources.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally during NPI process to make decisions on metrology planning.
  • Perform root case analysis of detected defects and collaborate with others to implement corrective actions.
  • Lead and manage projects related to implementation and improvement of inspection systems, ensuring timelines, budgets and quality objectives are met.
  • Collaborates with internal and external resources to select and validate metrology system components and software across the enterprise.
  • Design and create part fixtures to be used on various levels of metrology equipment to be used in conjunction with parts to be inspected.
  • Develop detailed metrology equipment, processes, and procedures.
  • Work with a calibration specialist to coordinate outside service calibration services for metrology equipment.
  • Submit purchasing requisitions for metrology equipment to Quality Manager.
  • Perform first piece, in-process, and/or final inspection for dimensions of parts produced and maintain documentation as required.
  • Perform routine measurements of components utilizing standard inspection equipment.
  • Compare print requirements with parts produced to determine the final quality of part.
  • Provide accurate inspection documentation as required.
  • Train quality and engineering individuals in programming of various equipment types.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow specifications and procedures for manufacturing, i.e., a production checklist, work orders and any other special instructions.
  • Conduct daily check-ins with the inspection team during shift-turnover.
  • Responsible for identifying quality problems in materials.
  • Training in processes and techniques of metrology.
  • Represent the company as required during customer, internal and ISO audits, as well as FDA inspections.
  • Understand the sensitivity of the data managed by the systems under your control and respond appropriately.
  • Good housekeeping, safe work ethics, and conducting self in a professional manner.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metrology, Automation or related field. Experience can be used in lieu of a degree.
  • EXPERIENCE: 7-10 (or 10+ without a degree) years' experience in metrology with strong experience in programing vision systems, and other inspections on various materials and surfaces, requires expertise in various 2D/3D imaging, laser scanning and automated optical inspection systems.
  • LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND/ REGISTRATIONS: CMM Certifications Level 1 and 2 preferred, but not required.
