ROCKWOOL is seeking a Sr. North American Codes & Standards Manager, preferably based in the greater Washington, D.C. area, to join our Regulatory Affairs team. This position requires 30% travel between the U.S. and Canada and reports to the Director of Technical.

This position is responsible for representing ROCKWOOL's business interests through active participation in the code development process, standards writing organizations, and relevant industry associations, primarily in the U.S. and Canada.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and advocating for building codes and standards that align with ROCKWOOL's strategic objectives.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Actively participate in relevant code development processes, standards writing organizations, and industry association meetings, including but not limited to ICC, CAN/ULC, ASTM, ASHRAE, NAIMA, and RAINA.
  • Recommend relevant standards and codes committees and associations for ROCKWOOL, and its sister companies, to participate in.
  • Influence the development and revision of relevant building codes and standards to support ROCKWOOL and sister companies' strategic objectives, while advocating for the inclusion and favorable treatment of ROCKWOOL products.
  • Ensure ROCKWOOL products comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations, and monitor changes that impact products and operations.
  • Analyze the impact of proposed changes to codes and standards on ROCKWOOL's products and business, and develop strategies to address regulatory challenges and opportunities.
  • Represent ROCKWOOL in key industry associations and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and other stakeholders to leverage the network for committee consensus support.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on building codes and standards to internal teams: Product Management, Product Development, Marketing, Sales, and to ROCKWOOL Group.
  • Develop and deliver training and educational materials related to codes and standards.
  • Communicate updates and insights on codes and standards, by preparing reports and presentations on code development activities and their impact on ROCKWOOL's business to inform relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on code and standard initiatives.
  • Participate in product and business meetings to support the development of business opportunities by identifying codes and standards interpretations and opportunities.
  • Maintain liaison and direct participation with ROCKWOOL Group codes and standards team, and support global codes and standards initiatives that impact ROCKWOOL North American operations.
  • Conduct research on emerging trends and developments in building codes and standards.
  • Attend regular training to stay current with products, applications, and market trends.
  • Manage budget requirements for the department within the scope and budgets established.
  • Identify consulting needs to support the organization from both strategic and tactical standpoints.


What You Bring
  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture or Business
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the building industry, with significant experience in codes and standards
  • Expertise in Fire Engineering, Acoustics or Building Science, preferred
  • Willingness and ability to frequently travel primarily within the U.S. and Canada, for committee meetings
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Licensed Architect credentials, or eligibility to obtain licensure, is preferred
  • Working knowledge of US and Canadian building codes as they pertain to insulation, preferred
  • Ability to read technical documents
  • Solid time management skills with the ability to track, manage, and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Bilingual proficiency in French/English or Spanish/English is a plus
