Assists with supporting, administering, troubleshooting and implementation of the IT network systems throughout SILFEX. This position is a significant component of the Silfex IT Systems

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and maintains the Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) connections.
  • Maintains a high level of protection as it pertains to IT Security in the networking environment.
  • Maintains IT wiring systems, pathways and connectivity.
  • Provides support to end users in the selection, procurement (after approval by the IT Manager), usage, and maintenance of software programs and hardware items as it pertains to the network.
  • Assists, maintains, and tests disaster recovery plans for the network devices as prescribed.
  • Perform all work-related tasks in a safe manner and report any unsafe conditions to SILFEX management.
  • Carry out special projects and all other additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by researching supply quantities, designing inventory systems, determining inventory levels and anticipating needed supplies for the network.
  • Protects employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean building.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional discussions related to networking.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
  • Minimum 8 years' experience with bachelor's degree in information technology or similar degree
  • CCNA or CCNP certification(s) preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common network diagrams and technical journals, network reports, technical documents, and implement network segmentation.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or members of the business community as it pertains to the Silfex IT network.
  • Ability to write items and articles for documentation that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively assist in presenting information to management, public groups, and/or employees.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions around network related items.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in network diagram form and deal with several variables as needed.
  • Proficiency in computer applications to include: Office 365, Microsoft Visio, network performance monitoring software and Cisco related command line. Check Point firewall experience a plus.
  • Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to pay close attention to details.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the environment is moderate.
