About the team:

The Network Ops Team is a small group of technical team players within the GTA Operations department working together to provide the very best service and support to our customers.

Who we are looking for:

The Senior Network Engineer-1 role is responsible for Tier-3 engineering functions supporting the various data, voice and video networks and associated services. They work in collaboration with the Tier-2, Tier-4 and Network Operation Centers teams to help drive resolution of core network elements and troubles impacting customer services.

  • Expert levels of problem solving and analytical ability to analyze complex, detailed structures. Expert levels of writing skills and ability to communicate effectively through concise writing. Previous sales engineering or network design a plus. Experience with Telco provisioning processes, Project Management experience a plus.
  • Expert levels of experience using network analysis, management and performance monitoring tools to evaluate product and service behaviors. Expert levels of working experience with troubleshooting tools such as traceroute, dig, netdump/snoop, and packet analysis applications and professional experience with security related Internet information sources, IETF RFC Standards and ITU-T Specifications.
  • Experience with Visio or equivalent design software creating detailed network diagrams.
  • Strong Sense of Accountability, Responsibility, Dedication and Commitment Planning/Organizing. Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks Process oriented.
  • Knows and understands how to identify, analyze, and create efficient scalable and repeatable processes. Ability to work independently with minimal direction including with follow-up. Ability to work with abstract concepts, requiring interpretation, extrapolation or logical derivation principles. Critical decision-making processes (makes sound, well informed, fact-based decisions).
  • Results driven with a sense of urgency. Change Management: adapts to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Possesses the appropriate level of technical/functional expertise and knowledge.
  • Understands and applies procedures, regulations, and policies related to areas of specialized expertise. Utilizes technology-based tools and processes. Continuous learning and development.
  • Customer service orientation. Ability to manage multiple priorities, functions and tasks Flexibility to adjust quickly too many moving facets of the job. Ability to make quick situational assessments and react accordingly.
  • Requires leveraging leadership and a variety of technical skills to work across internal groups; as well as with vendors and industry partners to support service offerings and infrastructure capabilities. Requires alertness and attention to detail. Requires managing multiple functions and tasks

Candidates must show:

  • Product/Service knowledge: Remains up to date on the latest services and products we provide and has a clear understanding of how each work. Working knowledge of telecom network offerings such as Ethernet, TDM, DSL and Wireless access providers also required.
  • Customer centric: Puts the customer first and creates a positive experience for the customer by building relationships and maximizing service/product offerings. Stays current with knowledge of products clients require and can foresee their future technology needs
  • Accountability: Punctual and dependable to meet the needs of our customers. Has the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Has the ability to assess an issue, provide creative solutions, and analyze if the solution was viable.
  • Organizational support: Ability to follow company policies and procedures in accordance with contract/agreement(s) and Company Goals, completes administrative tasks thoroughly, accurately, promptly, and efficiently as possible with respect to human resources, financial management and profitability.
  • Technical skills: Constantly strives to increase technical knowledge to improve training tools through latest product knowledge, industry knowledge, and research.
  • Growth and Learning: Is curious and understands that learning is a lifelong endeavor. You own your learning and development, and you are committed to evolving

Candidates must show:

  • Four years of college resulting in a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent Advanced Technical Certifications focused on the Telecom / Communications Industry for various Core, Access, Transport, Data Center, VoIP and Middleware Applications and Services
  • Over eight years of experience troubleshooting complex network designs and related services with a expert level background in designing and provisioning of network services spanning multiple domains and network-oriented applications.
  • Requires a extensive background and experience in lab and proof-of-concept testing, quality assurance and technology / application proof of concept benchmarking. Eight or more years of previous professional experience in a large, diverse, and multi-location Service Provider environment. Eight or more years performing analysis, debugging and resolving network hardware and software problems in a production and lab network.
  • Regular, punctual, and consistent attendance
  • Must be able to work any shift and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary to meet the needs and goals of the business
