Cal OES is recruiting for Limited Term positions and Emergency Hire Appointments in support of the Disaster Response and Recovery efforts in Southern California.
Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Infrastructure Services unit, IT Manager I, the IT Specialist II will provide support for the highly complex user and device connectivity and data services tasks. These tasks will include but are not limited to the design, implementation, and maintenance of a switching and routing environment supporting the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). This will include the monitoring of network traffic and events. Cal OES utilizes a combination of terrestrial commercial data circuits, leased satellite bandwidth, microwave, and commercial mobility solutions to maintain data connectivity throughout the State. This position works independently at times with little or no direct supervision and acts as a lead to other staff and as a member of diverse project teams. This position provides data services critical to the security and success of Cal OES to meet its operational mission.
This position will deal with California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS) and DHS/ FEMA Secure information and services, as such; a background check via Live Scan and possible need for secret security clearance will be required to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
This position will require travel to other locations to perform system maintenance and deployments.
** Limited Term positions may be appointed up to 12 months or extended to 24 months with the possibility of becoming permanent.**

- Emergency hire appointments earn state service and sick leave and vacation based upon actual time worked.
