Description

This position reports directly to the St. Lucie County Clerk and Comptroller and requires advanced network and server systems security knowledge. Manages the day-to-day administration of information security tools and devices. Includes responsibilities for the security administration of a wide variety of IT systems across the organization.
Examples of Duties

  • Identifies systemic security issues based on the analysis of vulnerability and configuration data.
  • Recommends security measures to resolve vulnerabilities, mitigate risks and recommend security changes to system or system components as needed.
  • Employs best practices when recommending security controls within a system including software, system, and security engineering principles.
  • Informs and provides governance regarding system security controls that ensure and provide for the confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation of system resources and the data the system processes and stores.
  • Monitor system logs and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity, and where appropriate, escalate reported security incidents.
  • Investigate and participate in resolving security violations by providing postmortem analysis to illuminate the issues and possible solutions.
  • Recommend, review, and assess penetration tests and vulnerability assessments on information systems and infrastructure.
  • Recommend and provide governance on security patches and any other measures required in the event of a security breach.
  • Monitor security vulnerability information from vendors and third parties.
  • Oversee staff security awareness training program.
  • Recommend and oversee disaster recovery and system data backup planning strategies.
  • Performs other duties to assist throughout the organization as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of information technology, network security, cybersecurity, or related field; Four years of directly related experience will be substituted for education qualifications.
  • Minimum of four years experience in a supervisory network security role.
  • Minimum of two years of recent experience in Microsoft Exchange and Office security.

  • Excellent writing skills to compose general correspondence using correct grammar and punctuation and using tone and format appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in desktop office solutions, such as Microsoft Office Suite, database applications, email, .pdf file attachments, internet search tools, and various computer peripheral devices.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures, office equipment and terminology.
  • Ability to learn and understand specialized information, including codes, rules, policies, procedures, forms, and legal terms, and apply that knowledge in carrying out job assignments accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to work with confidential and/or sensitive data; interpret and comply with state and federal guidelines.
  • Have strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize work in an environment that includes frequent interruptions and simultaneous detailed attention to multiple tasks.
  • Dependable and able to meet the assigned work schedule. Must be flexible as work assignments may frequently change.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and exercise good judgement and discretion.
  • Comply with legal advice restrictions of the Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller's Office.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the DC is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The DC is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
