About the Role
Reporting to the Production Training Excellence Lead, senior operations trainers play a key role in identifying and delivering the competence development requirements of all operations personnel in LNG Canada. This role will be on Shift.
Operations trainers bring with them a wealth of production operations experience and are expected to act as a coach to all new staff joining LNGC operations team and develop their professional competencies in line with the LNGC CD&A requirements.
This operations trainer role will focus on the Process, Common facilities and Utilities areas of LNG Canada.
Operations trainer is also expected to act as a swing resource for production team lead role within the shift as and when required

You will use your expertise to:
During Commissioning Phase (commissioning, start up, ramp up)
- Work closely with Production Training Excellence Lead to plan and facilitate vendor specific trainings for Process, common facilities and utilities area
- As and when needed, take up a field or panel post to support commissioning and start up activities, hence required to be assured competent to do so as any other operator
- During CSU phase there is potential for this role may be seconded to JFJV to support with start-up and early operations of Process, common facilities and utilities
- Support ORCSU with development and delivery of local HSSE induction
- Support production team leads with assuring compliance with start-up and operating procedures whilst actively identifying opportunities for improvement
- Support head of operations and production team leads with the register of authorized DCS operators and field operators thus ensuring only competent staff will execute work
- Support Head of Operations in his temporary role as "Block lead" assuring operations readiness by maintaining and updating the Project to Asset (P2A) readiness checklist to be achieved well in advance of the Block RFSU milestone
- Potential opportunity to conduct field surveillance and assurance tasks in module fabrication yards (maximum 6-month at a time, potential for multiple 6-monthly stints). Surveillance and assurance tasks include amongst others: P&ID punching, system completeness checks, punch close-out checks, witnessing of cleaning activities (flushing, air blowing, blasting, degreasing), review of pre- commissioning procedures, etc.)
During Operate (run and maintain) Phase:
- Develop operations training material such as Unit Awareness Training (UAT), Work Area Capability Assessment Packs (WACAP) etc. as per the training plan and competency requirements
- Deliver the agreed training program for Process & common facilities area via classroom and field training as needed to make sure that all operators are certified as per the requirements before their deployment in the field for authorized work
- Conduct competence assessment and certification of the trainees as per the training plan and recommend gap closure plans per individual
- Closely monitor individual progress and skill development against the Operations Technician Progression plan and provide timely feedback to supervisors
- Continuously improve the training material based on new knowledge obtained during the commissioning and startup phase and ensure training materials are kept up to date during operate phase
- Support causal investigations and incorporate learnings into the training material and communicate with all operations team members in effected units
- Support Production Training Excellence Lead to update and upkeep the job competence profiles, qualification tests, and simulator scenarios for operations staff and any evolving training needs
- Document all completions and ensure that training records are accurate and document training metrics in monthly reporting
- Plan and conduct refresher training for the shift teams as per the plan, ensure refresher training scenarios are updated based on lessons learned from incidents
- Act as a 'field coach' to all new operators and demonstrate the right safety behavior in line with LNGC's Safest Project On Earth aspiration
- Support and develop, maintain & update FLBM competence assurance material as per the CD&A plan
- Act as Backup PTL when called upon for the safe operation and emergency response to the plant conditions and responsible for competency development and assurance of some field and panel technicians.
- Developing high quality and fit for purpose training material addressing the needs of both LNG and non-LNG experience operators as well as any additional skills required for CSU phase
- Deliver an intense training program to ensure all necessary training is completed in time for operators to start pre-commissioning and commissioning activities as per the RFSU block handover schedule
During Operate (run and maintain) Phase:

To be successful, you will have:
- At least 10 years of experience in plant operations in oil and gas operations with demonstrated training and coaching capabilities
- Class 4 power engineering Certifications
- In depth technical knowledge and understanding of Utilities and Storage and Loading operations and process /operations
- Ability to use MPDS/OTS for training will be considered an asset
- LNG/Petrochemical/refinery experience will be considered an asset
- Experience in mega/large project environment and CSU experience will be considered an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective presentation and facilitation skills
- Strong technical writing skills specific to engineering & operations systems and procedures
- Design and delivery of technical training packages using Microsoft Presentation and or similar program for training requirements
- Continuous improvement mindset and knowledge management capabilities

- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)

- Line Supervisor for the Production Team Leads
- Responsible for the performance and development of the Production Team Leads and front-line production teams
- Are willing to work outdoors during inclement weather in all seasons including heavy snowfall and periods of heavy rain.
- Can climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces. Plant design conditions provide structures that are significantly taller than common in industry, individuals must be comfortable with heights as well as travel to and from the workface at heights.
- This is a rotating Salaried Shift work role, where Salary Schedule Allowance will be included on base salary. The shift is as follows
