Job Description

The Database Administrator is responsible for completing EITS database services, resolving database incidents, and performing database monitoring and maintenance. The primary responsibilities include deploying a multi-terabyte Cloud-based Enterprise Data Warehouse, building and installing database systems, and conducting database security, performance tuning and troubleshooting activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, customization and product support of Oracle, Snowflake and other databases as required.
  • Configuration and administration support of backend databases, including and not limited to Informatica Power Center, Data Quality, Data Catalog and Axon 3rd party applications. As well as implementing and supporting High Availability for those backend databases.
  • Performing database upgrading, patching, and cloning services.
  • Setting up real-time Change Data Capture (CDC), data integration, and replication.
  • Develop, monitor and optimize processes that maximize database system availability, efficiency, effectiveness, integrity, recoverability, and supportability.
  • Support designing storage strategies around backup and recovery for complex database environments, physical database structures, using specialized database applications.
  • Performing database export/import and backup/recovery services.
  • Maintaining up-to-date plans for disaster recovery and fail over capabilities for database systems.


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Department Preferences

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Requirements:
  • Experience with Snowflake DB management
  • Experience configuring and administering all backend databases for the following applications: Informatica Power Center, Informatica Data Quality (IDQ), Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC), Informatica Axon
  • Real-time Change Data Capture, data integration, and replication
  • Upgrading, patching and cloning databases
  • Database Import/export, backup/recovery
  • Implementing database replication solutions
  • Maximizing system availability, efficiency, effectiveness, integrity, recoverability, and supportability
  • Experience in upgrading and setting up High Availability for Database and supporting tools and applications
  • UNIX (AIX, LINUX)
  • Support designing storage strategies around backup and recovery for complex database environments, physical structures, and specialized database applications
  • Maintaining up-to-date plans for disaster recovery and fail over capabilities
  • Excellent performance and tuning skills on OLTP and DSS type applications

  • 8+ years of experience in database management and tools administration and analytics related work.
