Working Location: This role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence at Precision's Corporate Office in Wayne, Michigan three days per week and the flexibility to work remotely two days per week.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Payroll and HRIS Manager, you will oversee the payroll function and manage the HRIS to ensure efficient operations and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a strategic thinker capable of collaborating across departments to align the HRIS with organizational goals while delivering valuable workforce management insights. Key responsibilities include:

Payroll Management:
  • Overseeing and managing the payroll function to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions, while resolving related issues and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Performing payroll analysis to optimize efficiency and compliance, staying current on payroll tax requirements and communicating relevant updates to departments.
  • Collaborating with People Services, benefits, and finance teams to streamline payroll and HRIS processes.

HRIS System Management and Optimization:
  • Leading the integration of new HR technology solutions, including workforce management, performance management, and benefits.
  • Overseeing the optimization, maintenance, and upgrades of the HRIS, ensuring seamless integration with other systems like ATS.
  • Identifying opportunities for system enhancements, process improvements, and standardization of workflows to ensure efficiency and consistency across locations.
  • Developing and enforcing HRIS policies and practices in alignment with local compliance requirements.

Training and Support:
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for HRIS-related inquiries, providing training, support, troubleshooting, and guidance to users and stakeholders.
  • Documenting and maintaining HRIS processes, policies, and procedures to support end-users and administrators effectively.

Data Integrity and Reporting:
  • Ensuring accurate employee data within the HRIS, maintaining compliance with data privacy and confidentiality standards.
  • Regularly auditing HRIS data for integrity and addressing discrepancies promptly.
  • Creating and delivering regular and ad-hoc HR reports, dashboards, and metrics to support leadership and compliance needs.
  • Leading all payroll-related audits, including but not limited to workers' compensation, year-end financial, and 401(k) audits, ensuring accurate data reporting and compliance.

Process Improvement and Change Management:
  • Partnering with People Services, IT, payroll, and other stakeholders to streamline and integrate processes across locations.
  • Developing and implementing change management strategies to support system implementations, upgrades, and process changes.
  • Acting as a change advocate, promoting the benefits of new systems and processes while monitoring and adjusting strategies to ensure successful outcomes.

Leadership and Team Development:
  • Leading and managing the payroll team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Training People Services and Payroll staff on system functionality, new processes, and compliance updates.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Strategic Contribution:
  • Analyzing HR data to provide actionable insights and recommendations that inform decision-making and improve employee experience.
  • Staying informed about industry trends and advancements in HR technology to ensure the organization remains competitive and innovative.
  • Supporting leadership in developing strategies to enhance employee engagement, retention, and workforce planning through data-driven insights.

Flexibility:
  • Adapting to additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to meet departmental needs.

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking an analytical and process-oriented Senior Payroll and HRIS Manager with a minimum of 5 years of payroll management experience, including extensive multi-state payroll expertise. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of state and federal payroll laws, compliance, and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification (required).
  • Certification in HRIS (e.g., SHRM-SCP, HRIP) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience managing HRIS and payroll systems, with a preference for ADP Workforce Management and ADP Workforce Now.
  • Advanced skills in payroll software and Microsoft Excel, with proficiency in Office 365.
  • Experience managing and configuring HR systems like Dayforce, Workday, ADP, or similar platforms.
  • Proven track record of designing and standardizing HR systems and processes across multiple markets.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting technical issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Advanced project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience implementing change management strategies for system and process rollouts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Must hold a current, valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and criminal background check.

Physical Demands of the Job
  • Occasional involvement (defined as one-third or less of the time) lifting of no more than 10 pounds at a time. Work is performed primarily in a seated position and entails no significant stooping, standing, climbing, walking, etc. Many sedentary jobs require good use of the hands and fingers for repetitive hand-finger actions. Working conditions occur within low to moderate noise levels related to standard office equipment.
  • Occasional travel for meetings, onsite visits, customer locations, or other business-related purposes.

  • This role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence at Precision's Corporate Office in Wayne, Michigan three days per week and the flexibility to work remotely two days per week.
  • A person applying for this position must be available to work full-time. Overtime is minimal, but possible if an assignment needs to be completed by a deadline.
  • As an employee, you will be responsible for retaining a valid driver's license, free from any drug or alcohol-related driving convictions or reckless driving and always remain "insurable" while operating company owned or controlled vehicles.
