Position Summary
Develops and drives the enterprise monitoring strategy and its adoption and evolution with a focus on standards and application instrumentation for critical research, education, and clinical systems. Responsible for proposing and modernizing toolsets and processes to support predictive analysis capabilities that will anticipate service issues and help prevent outages before they occur.

Job Responsibilities
- Takes an active role in driving performance enhancements, and leading targeted process improvement initiatives.
- Partners with line of business teams to understand requirements for designing and delivering performance and monitoring solutions to optimize the user experience.
- Designs, implements and consolidates the monitoring systems that collect metrics, events, and metadata to monitor infrastructure and applications that are hosted on prem and in a multi-cloud environment.
- Contributes to the refinement/defining requirements for monitoring, establishing meaningful KPIs for monitoring and performance metrics.
- Works closely with Operations and facilitates the use of the monitoring and performance systems in incident response that provide trending analysis to prevent future events from reoccurring.
- Works to ensure the effective capture of all relevant log data for analysis.
- Integrates disparate data sets and produces a usable synthesis in reports and presentations.
- Identifies and implements automation for day-to-day operations to improve resiliency and efciency. Reviews pre and post-production systems, proposes exploratory tests and KPIs.
- Participates and contributes to the architecture board.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 7 years in enterprise IT application monitoring that includes at least 2 years of hands-on software development, DevOps engineering, systems administration, or systems architecture.
- Expert knowledge of IT performance metrics.
- Experience with data management, report design, data visualization and presentation techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting performance issues with complex hybrid large-scale multi-tier and distributed application infrastructures.
- Experience with cloud monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Google Operations, DataDog, Splunk, etc..
- Knowledge of at least one scripting language such as JavaScript, Bash, Python or PowerShell.
- Experience with real user performance monitoring for an optimal user experience.
- Experience with performance testing tools
- Experience with one or more cloud providers such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Experience with application and integration development within a cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Ability to translate strategic business objectives and needs to solution requirements.
- Ability to cultivate a shared strategic vision, articulate clear business objectives, and align the organization to achieve them.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to promote and maintain a favorable and positive work environment for oneself and others to assist in the overall mission of the medical college and hospital.
- Ability to assess benefit versus risk of implementing technologies.
- Ability to think creatively, strategically and act tactically.
