GPI Geospatial is seeking a senior pilot for our Orlando, FL, office. This is a critical role that involves the operation of single and multi-engine aircraft (Cessna T206 & Piper Navajo) to complete aerial missions for the collection of remote sensing data and managing the pilot in both the Orlando, FL and Greenville, SC offices. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling, verifying compliance for aircraft maintenance, maintaining currency/ training standards for all company pilots, safe aircraft operations, assessing weather conditions, and capturing remote sensing data effectively and efficiently. Project missions have a diverse range of geographical coverage and size. Must be ready for emergency response situations and take advantage of optimum flying conditions, including weekends and potentially holidays.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with scheduling company pilots
  • Verify and maintain flight currency for company pilots (Night/IFR/Bi-Annual/Medical)
  • Track and verify aircraft maintenance. Verify logbooks are current and up to date
  • Working with the flight operations managers, reviewing upcoming projects, weather, TFRs, and airspace, and assisting with the planning and execution of missions
  • Cultivation/growth/mentoring of junior pilots
  • Provide scheduled recurrent flight training/competency reviews (in-house) for company pilots.
  • Provide interview flights for prospective pilots
  • Schedule annual outside recurrent training (SimCom) for company pilots
  • Continual review of flights to verify aircraft and crews are being efficient. Provide ideas to increase efficiency. Address and investigate any concerns with aircraft or flight crews
  • Perform a pre/post-flight inspection of the aircraft
  • Creating and adjusting flight plans
  • Safety-minded aircraft operation adhering to FAA and company safety guidelines
  • Mission and ATC coordination planning
  • Work with sensor operator to perform efficient flight mission imagery/data collection
  • When traveling, responsible for securing hangar space, arrangement of rental cars and hotels
  • Securing a forward base of operations for project-specific assignments
  • Monitor weather and cloud conditions for the project site

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience managing flight operations with multiple aircraft and locations
  • Background/knowledge/training in aviation safety and risk mitigation
  • Experience with light civilian aircraft maintenance and or A&P/IA certification(preferred)
  • CSEL, CMEL, CFII, MEI
  • Current Piper Navajo training (preferred)
  • High School diploma required, associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2nd Class Medical
  • FAA Commercial pilot license with Instrument and Multi-Engine Land Rating
  • 1500 Total hours (500 Hours Multi-Engine preferred but not required) (less if PA-31 aircraft experience)
  • Complex aircraft experience, Cessna 206 preferred; surveying is a big plus
  • Passing a background check and drug screening
  • Aerial survey experience (preferred)


Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
  • Current US passport
  • Ability to fly above 12,000' using supplemental oxygen (no medical limitations)
  • Ability to fly at night (no medical limitations)
  • Deployable up to 14 days (CONUS), 21 days (Caribbean/DR/PR)
