SUMMARY

The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for the functions in an account management role, which includes but not limited to the maintenance of loan and deposit products and services to fit the needs of multiple client relationships. Senior Portfolio Managers are responsible for cross-selling other products/services offered by the Bank, and consistently communicate with clients to ensure the Bank is well aware of both opportunities and threats that could cause the client's relationship to grow or terminate in the future. This position takes an active role in the preparation and maintenance multiple new and existing loan relationships, and in accordance with Bank's policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Credit Responsibilities:
  • Monitor accounts to identify potential operations and lending risks and assure proper documentation on accounts.
  • Underwrites and recommends credit action to identified credit authority for approval.
  • Underwrites directly or manages the underwriting process of all loans under one's responsibility in accordance with the Bank's policies and procedures.
  • Reviews requests for establishment of new loans and credit lines.
  • Collects and analyzes required financial reporting and related information.
  • Determines the general credit worthiness of a credit request and the merits of the loan request.
  • Compiles all necessary documentation necessary to prepare and draw loan documents.
  • Maintains knowledge of company underwriting and lending guidelines and provides input to guidelines requested.
  • Interfaces with borrowers and borrower's advisors as necessary.
  • Ensures credit files for all loans under their responsibility are complete and prepared in form and substances satisfactory for Credit Administration and regulatory review.
  • Review and sign off on all underwriting conditions in a timely manner. [Subject To items should be signed off by Credit Admin].
  • Ensures proper pre-funding quality control steps are taken on all loans.
  • Effectively manage the process to ensure loan requests are being reviewed efficiently, that customers receive timely answers and that all approved transactions are completed quickly and accurately.
  • Ensures all loans comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Provides frequent communication to all parties involved in transaction in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Provides guidance and training to team members involved in the processing and funding of loans.
  • Accountable to understand and ensure regulatory and policy compliance with state and federal requirements including the following (but not limited to) Bank Secrecy Act, Anti- Money Laundering Act, Community Reinvestment Act, OFAC Regulations and Fair Lending and all applicable bank and government regulations
  • Attends training and maintains a basic knowledge of procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing financial institutions, as they apply to your position and job responsibilities, with an emphasis on the BSA/AML/CIP, Consumer Privacy, Regulation CC, Information Security, Bank Protection Act, FACT-Identity Theft, Information Technology and GLBA.
  • Perform other departmental duties as assigned


Sales Responsibilities:
  • Identify and attend marketing events necessary to maintain industry/product knowledge for niches represented in the portfolio under management.
  • Source/develop new business relationships consisting of both loan and deposit products.
  • Interfaces with borrowers and borrower's advisors as necessary.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of cash management and deposit products offered by Bank.
  • Manage and serve a portfolio of mature relationships with an emphasis on client retention, cross-selling and growing the existing portfolio.
  • Work as a member of a team comprised of Sunwest Bank product experts to ensure continuity of high-quality service, product delivery, and responsiveness to client needs.
  • Create and maintain effective relationships with members of the team. Must be able to deliver seamless service to clients when other team members are unavailable. At this level, the individual should possess deep product knowledge and technical expertise in order to originate, structure, and execute large transactions.
  • Maintain a high-level degree of creativity and independence.
  • Requires interaction with branch staff, bank operations, and cash management to support business services and products. May include training, coaching and joint business calls.
  • Delivers excellent customer service both inside and outside the Bank.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 5+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax return analysis and analytical interpretation of balance sheet and income statement analysis and cash flow.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and other financial analysis software programs.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of loan documentation.
  • Must be able to handle a strong volume of work flow from various sources.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all bank and client information.
