Summary: Direct and manage the plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Direct and manage plant operations for production, quality, and shipping and receiving.
  • Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Develop and control profits, plans, and budget
  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries
  • Manages capital asset maintenance
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives
  • Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
  • Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Provides direction, development and leadership to production leads
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Knowledge of all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment
  • Analyzes job orders to estimate shop hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications
  • Directs managers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assists managers in solving work problems.
  • Maintain time and production records.
  • Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials
  • Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on-site
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ability to manage up to 120 exempt and non-exempt employees. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with Kelvion's policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities will include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directing employees' work; setting and adjusting rates of pay and hours of work of employees; planning and controlling the budget for department; providing for the safety of the employees; planning the work; determining the techniques to be used; apportioning the work among the workers.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or ten years plant management in serial production and metal fabrication environment.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
