About the team
The AWS Culture team owns two primary programs. Firstly, the Amazon Day 1 Culture Program (AD1CP) with the vision to enable leaders to cultivate and evangelize AD1C, strengthening a globally inclusive organizational culture to power the trajectory of the AWS business and positively impact AWS customers and communities. The AD1CP mission is to cultivate AD1C through science and personalized interventions. We focus on impact rather than activity by using research science to design scalable interventions amplified through leaders and champions with evidence-based nudges and experiences. We measure the effectiveness of our work and adapt quickly to new insights. We build structured, data-driven solutions that ensure that the cultivation of our AD1C is not left to good intentions. 2024 saw the program scale across Amazon organizations outside of AWS and 24,734 builders attended 1,168 Champion-led experiences in 2024 with a total reach of 34,188 builders since program launch in 2022. Secondly, the Culture team owns an AWS global 2025 goal to design and deliver a culture building program focused on L7 leaders. From the AWS PXT 2025 OP1, "One of our biggest challenges is ensuring we have a strong mechanism to support and enable our key org/IC/people managers to effectively lead in alignment with our Day 1 Culture, especially with high-velocity decision-making (HVDM). To address this, we will take the learnings from AD1CP and Lead to Scale (L2S) program to launch a targeted cohort of 1,500- 2,000 of our top-performing L7 leaders. We will leverage this new program not only for development of these leaders, but mainly as an accelerator of our culture, activating shared mental models at scale across the organization. This program will be a channel for driving alignment with CEO priorities, and propagating the desired Day 1 mindset at scale."
