Job Summary:
- The senior project engineer is a Professional Engineer with progressive experience. This position is responsible for leading and managing engineering projects from concept to production, delegating, and supervising the work of other engineers. This position serves as support to the Project Manager, and must possess a complete understanding of design, regulations, and procedures including technology and methods.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs design functions on complex projects that require advance level of engineering knowledge and experience.
- Works in conjunction with the Project Manager to assist with developing the Project Plan.
- Manages engineering activity from concept to production to completion.
- Assists in the preparation of proposals, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Develops engineering plans and compile preliminary layout of plans.
- Conduct comprehensive engineering studies and develop appropriate recommendations.
- Oversees the work of other project team members to efficiently complete projects.
- Mentors and teaches technical knowledge and design skills to entry level design technicians, entry level engineers and project engineers.
- Plans, organizes, and make public presentations as required.
- Attends client meetings as required.
- Ensures company policy, procedures, and standards are observed by all associates under their supervision.
Business Acumen:
- Understands how role impacts financial drivers of the company.
- Effectively manages time as appropriate for each task.
- Understand billable utilization.
- Cognitive of budgets; functions with respective restraint.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registration:
- PE preferred
- Valid driver's license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of ten years of progressive experience of which at least seven years have been as a Project Engineer with demonstrated competencies and performance.
- Possess and demonstrate outstanding and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide innovative and appropriate design solutions on large and/or complex projects.
- Demonstrated ability to provide advanced level technical expertise.
- AutoCad Civil 3D proficiency required.
- Available to work nights and weekends, and travel to complete a project as necessary.
- Ability to design/engineer difficult engineering projects.
- Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework.
- Ability to lead and engage staff.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Must be fluent in the English language.
