Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital. Job Description
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of construction projects within the hospital, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves working closely with hospital leadership, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate project planning, execution, and completion.
Duties & Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
For Appointment to Assignment Level II:
1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as described in #1 of Level I above; and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in administration, management and execution of clinical projects and programs of various complexities, in a health care setting or for health care programs, one (1) year of which must have been directly managing multiple concurrent clinical projects and programs in those areas; or
2. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as described in #1 of Level I above; and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience, three (3) years of which must have been, as described in #2 of Level I above; or
3. Completion of education leading to a degree in nursing, medicine or a related clinical area can be substituted on a one-to-one basis for experience as described in #1 above. However, all candidates must have at least three years' experience managing concurrent clinical projects/programs and/or clinical research experience; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
Department Preferences
Certification: PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) certification preferred
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of construction processes, building codes, fire and safety regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Skills: Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting. Strong problem-solving and decision making abilities. Familiarity with budgetary and cost accounting terms and practices.
Working Environment/Machines Operated: Ability to work in various environmental conditions typical of construction sites. Work may involve exposure to construction sites and associated hazards, with appropriate safety measures in place. Work may involve climbing ladders or moving light equipment/materials in the field
Computer Programs/Software Operated: Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management Software (i.e., Kahua, Procore, etc.)
Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on healthcare or hospital related projects strongly preferred. Equivalent job experience with expanded supervisory will be considered

- Lead and manage construction projects from inception through completion, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
- Define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress and performance, adjusting as necessary, to ensure successful outcomes.
- Lead project teams, assigning tasks and ensuring deadlines and budgets are met
- Manage project changes and mitigate risks to ensure project success. Coordinate with key project personnel to ensure site Safety, Security and infection Control measures are implemented and enforced
