The Senior Project Manager will deliver complex projects to successful completion in the best interests of the customer. Managing Budget, risks and ensuring project benefits will be delivered. Key interactions with the Delivery Leads, Change Managers, Business Analysts, Project Management Team Leads, Business Engagement Leads, Business Project Managers, Business Stakeholder and Resource Managers.

You will be managing medium to large size complex Projects based on business needs; and may include discretional transformational Projects/Programs.

This key role within the Global Technology Department will deliver specific and approved projects in the best interests of the customer, managing budget, scope, risks, issues, dependencies, schedule, and resources to deliver desired project benefits. This role will report directly into the Project Management Lead under Transversal Services supporting UK & Lloyds, Europe and AsiaPac Insurance Applications including the frame, Genius, Wild Commercial, Underwriting Workbench, Artist, Phoenix and WaterTrace.

What will youressential responsibilities include?

  • Robust technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, product, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life cycle.
  • Exceptional problem solving and influencing skills.
  • Identify the critical project path, scheduling resources accordingly to remove impediments, obstacles, and blockers and resolve scheduling delays for the team.
  • A quantitative approach to problem and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker
  • Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design and data science representatives.
  • Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results.
  • Exceptional cross-team collaboration, able to work across different functions, organizations and reporting boundaries to get the job done.
  • Creates and manages project and program dashboard, timelines, documents and supporting systems/tools according to established industry best practices.
  • Actively analyze and highlight inconsistencies, risks, and scheduling conflicts.
  • Ensures data is accurately reported in PM systems, and team sites.
  • Leads focused sub-teams/workstreams as required (technical, business, etc...)
  • Lead and participate in development of risk and issue assessments.
  • Responsible for preparation of program team and PM status reports/timelines and key deliverables are clear, transparent, and delivered to all stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep-seated empathy for teams and partners.
  • Provide technical guidance and peer-to-peer coaching on project management tools/systems to new project team members and other functional support personnel as appropriate.
  • Develop governance and decision-making materials as required.
  • Lead or support process improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Serve as acting program manager when needed.
  • Plan and manage scope, objectives, project/phase steps/gates based on PMO standards and project compliance.
  • Contribute to project expense planning and resource management.
  • Experience in implementation of any Cloud Migration projects is a plus.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive experience managing complex projects and programmes of $1M+
  • Moderate to extensive experience managing technical programs.
  • Insurance industry and Ceded Re-experience is required.
  • Experience of running multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to provide innovative solutions based on robust understanding of business objectives.
  • Outstanding problem solving with a willingness to pursue creative solutions.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to senior leaders.
  • Experience of benefits driven change and minimum viable product concepts
  • Prince 2, SCRUM Master, Scaled Agile (SAFE), PMP Certification (or equivalents) is desirable.
  • Proficient user of project management tools for example MS Project, MS Office Suite, Financial Tracking
  • Bachelors degree or higher in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS)

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Moderate to extensive experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
  • Some to moderate experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services/architecture - preferably using AWS, Azure
  • Some to moderate experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms.
  • Some to moderate experience with Agile delivery
  • Some to moderate experience delivering large and complex programs where you own the business or technical strategy, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables, and unblock teams to land business impact.
  • Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment.
  • Management of complex projects within the framework and governance model in use at AXA XL (both Agile and Waterfall)
  • Comprehensive Project definition and initiation, including scope, cost, time and quality estimates.
  • Building effective project teams and establish excellent working relationships with project stakeholders.
  • Preparing and maintaining up to date project plans and budget forecasts collaboratively with all key project team members
  • Robust risk, issue and dependency management, proactively identifying and mitigating items to keep projects on track.
  • Managing scope, including change controls
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced Project Managers
  • Initiating improvements to existing Project Management and Governance processes
  • Establishing and maintaining a robust partnership with the Project Management Office and other teams as required

The U.S. pay range for this position is USD 106,500 - 186,500. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individuals skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues pay.
