Senior Project Manager

Description

Kitchell is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Project Manager to join our Texas region in the city of Austin and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.

Overview

Working closely with Regional Leadership and Business Development to target and pre-position for opportunities in the Essential Services Market Sector in Central Texas and eventually throughout Texas. Planning, directing, and ensuring the effective execution of projects, and construction management services on large, complex public emergency services vertical construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Construction Manager with direct client facing responsibilities
• Actively participates in the business community and builds relationships within the industry to generate and enhance business opportunities
• Provide strategy development and substantiate leads and contributes to business development efforts for our Austin office and assigned projects including the preparation of proposals and presentations for new work
• Participates in preparation and negotiation of owner contracts and ensures delivery and adherence to contractual requirements and that all aspects of owner contracts are accomplished
• Oversees preparation and maintenance of project budget, construction schedule and master project schedule
• Oversees preconstruction and construction progress and team performance to ensure conformance with schedule, budget and contractual requirements
• Work directly with multiple city departments to provide them with internal resources as support for their need for PM/CM services
• Conduct project meetings and provide documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
• Maintains and ensures client satisfaction and effectively resolves concerns when needed to secure repeat business
• Implements and maintains effective systems of communication within and outside the program to ensure constructive relationships and the adequate flow of information
• Ensure contractor, architect, engineer, will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
• Provide management of project logistics, organization, safety, and manpower utilization
• Monitors project planning and design status to report findings, recommendations, and updates
• May coordinate, direct, and monitor activities of construction management staff, contractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field is preferred
• 10 or more years of experience in Vertical Construction (public sector strongly preferred) is required with 5 of those years as a Project Manager is required
• Prior experience working on ground up Fire Station projects is required, experience with Civic or Municipal market sector construction projects is preferred

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge and application of master planning, A/E solicitation, project development, design-phase management, construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, contracts and delivery methods are required
• Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products is required
• User skills with MS Project and Procore are preferred
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the advanced ability to foster and maintain effective interpersonal relationships is required

License and Certifications

• Valid Texas driver's license free from suspensions or restrictions is required

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in an office and or construction environment. Conditions regularly include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters with occasionally loud noise level in the work. Independent travel throughout the county and state may be required.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must frequently lift and or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirements

This position is Austin, TX based with a regional component. Travel within Central Texas is required for the execution of business development client facing meetings.
