Description:
Ashford is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to lead and oversee specific accounting processes at the property level.
- Responsible for performing the month end close duties for assigned properties including preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger reconciliation schedules in compliance with company's policies & procedures.
- Analyze and reconcile accounting discrepancies and ensure the accuracy and timelines of financial data.
- Analyze & review complex accounting & financial transactions for internal & external reporting.
- Review and reconcile Property tax reconciliation schedules for accuracy and ensure all tax support has been obtained for SOX compliance.
- Review intercompany accounts & research/resolve any variances to ensure accounts eliminate in consolidation.
- Determine proper accounting treatment of leases/property specific contracts and maintain lease schedule to ensure all leases are accounted for & identify variances that may require adjustments.
- Prepare & review monthly management fee calculation schedules.
- Assist with preparation of company consolidated financial statements
- Work closely with external & internal auditors, providing all requested documents and reports for annual audit.
- Responsible for managing, training, and reviewing month end close processes performed by third party companies.
- Perform balance sheet and PL property-level fluctuation analysis.
- Review month-end verifications of manager financial statements
- Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) policies and procedures.
- Other projects or additional duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA or CPA candidate with section(s) passed preferred
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Hospitality, real estate, or public accounting a plus
- Advanced excel skills and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong knowledge of General ledger accounting & accounting systems (Oracle experience a plus)
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- Analytical, self-motivated, detail-oriented, resourceful and organized
- Work requires strong professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Hybrid Role (2 days in office)
