Description:

The Senior Purchasing Specialist at Porter Pipe & Supply will play a crucial role in our supply chain operations. This position will be responsible for managing the procurement process of pipes, valves and fittings, ensuring timely delivery of products while maintaining optimal inventory levels and negotiating favorable terms with suppliers. The Senior Purchasing Specialist also provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and demonstrates strict confidentiality with all team members while serving as an ambassador of our culture.

Essential Functions:
Procurement Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategic procurement plans to ensure the availability of high-quality pipe valves and fittings at competitive prices.
Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers, fostering strong relationships to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to obtain the best possible terms and conditions, including pricing, discounts, and payment terms.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and demand forecasts to optimize stock levels, minimize excess inventory, and prevent stockouts.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that procured pipe valves and fittings meet quality standards and specifications.
Cost Optimization: Continuously seek opportunities to reduce costs through strategic sourcing, process improvements, and value engineering initiatives.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards, including safety, environmental, and ethical guidelines.
Data Analysis: Analyze procurement data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities, mitigate risks, and support decision-making processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as sales, logistics, and finance, to coordinate procurement activities and support overall business objectives.
Adheres to all Company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
Assists with special projects and initiatives as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
ERP experience and SX Enterprise experience preferred.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in procurement within the pipe valves and fittings industry, strong negotiation skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, must be within the pipe valves and fittings industry.
Proven track record of successful supplier management, negotiation, and cost optimization.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organizations' facilities.
