Position Overview
The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing quality standards and testing protocols for new product introductions, specifically focusing on large engine investments. This role aims to facilitate and develop new elements of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and ensure high-quality standards across all phases of product development and predominantly involves creation and supervision of APQP documentation, process FMEAs, control plans, and process flow diagrams. This position is essential for focusing on capital investment and risk mitigation for large engine investments at the Lafayette facility, which is expanding to increase capacity for the electric power and data center markets.
Job Responsibilities
Facilitate the development of APQP documentation including process FMEAs, control plans, and process flow diagrams. Support and track recommended actions from process FMEAs. Independently schedule and lead APQP readiness meetings with manufacturing engineering teams. Review and/or develop process capability studies and measurement systems analysis. Create final production part approval documentation (PPAP). Present formal documentation and updates to stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering required with 8-10 years of experience.
Specific Experience:
Extensive experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment. Previous experience with APQP, PPAP, and related quality assurance methodologies.
Technical Skills Required
Ability to facilitate and create all APQP elements including Process Flow, Control Plan, and Process Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (PFMEA). Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Technical Skills Desired
Prior automotive industry experience.
Soft Skills
Ability to facilitate and host cross functional meetings both in person and virtually. Manage priorities across multiple projects.
