NuVista Energy is hiring a Reservoir Engineer for our Calgary head office. Reporting to the Director, Montney Development and Reservoir Characterization, you will be responsible for reservoir engineering within a tight knit team of high performance individuals. As a member of the reservoir Characterization team you will be responsible for providing technical insight to further optimize NuVista's producing assets as well as future well designs and field development strategy.

Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to construct predictive models to assist in field and well optimization efforts
- Generate type curves for use in well economics and budget planning
- Construct and maintain analytical and numerical models to aid in understanding and predicting reservoir behaviour
- Work with multivariate regression models to gain novel insights from large datasets
- Propose and implement new technologies to help evaluate and optimize D&C execution efficiency and resulting production performance
- Work with the development team to optimize field development plans
- Prepare and present technical updates and learnings to team members including leaders and Executives
- Fluid characterization to understand phase behaviour of various PVT systems in the Montney
- Work with third party evaluator and internal teams on preparing annual reserves
- Maintain effective communication within a multidisciplinary team of Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Operations and Land
Qualifications/Attributes
- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a focus in Chemical, Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Active Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA or other Provincial Professional Organization is required
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in oil and gas with a strong reservoir engineering background
- Strong analytical modelling skills with experience in RTA and PTA (Whitson+ or other equivalent software exposure)
- Experience with numerical simulation in unconventional tight gas reservoirs (CMG or Eclipse) is an asset
- Experience in spotfire or equivalent data analytics tool considered an asset
- Experience in programming in one or more languages is an asset (Python, SQL, R)
- Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational, analytical and project management skills.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
