Description

ESC has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Retail Category Manager who is responsible for developing strategies and priorities for 3P categories (white space opportunities, target brands, trends to capture, etc.) The Category Manager is responsible for hunting/acquiring targeted sellers for ecommerce marketplace and ensuring success of key sellers on platform including driving revenue and smooth operation. The role also demands the ability to build relationships and trust with sellers, analyzing and reporting on their performance. The position starts as a contract opportunity, with ability to convert and working hybrid in the Greater Chicago Area.

You'll accomplish all this by:

  • Developing the strategy and approach of acquiring new brands in partnership with key internal stakeholders
  • Identifying and managing a pipeline of strategic accounts across key categories
  • Developing creative solutions to identify new prospects and build a robust pipeline of new brands
  • Identifying channels, e.g., online and offline, for seeking potential sellers of the items
  • Forecasting volume and number of new sellers and activities required to incubate them
  • Working closely with the Merchandising team to understand products, specifications, and prices to sell at in the marketplace
  • Conducting the pitch and negotiating deals until closure to get potential sellers to join the marketplace
  • Educating sellers on features, promotional campaign and market insights
  • Implementing campaigns for new sellers
  • Interacting with stakeholders of different teams to ensure products sold by new sellers receive enough visibility on the product pages
  • Updating the management team on weekly progress


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, analytics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • 3+ years' experience in retail, e-commerce, business development or sales; experience with B2B environment in fashion, beauty or luxury brands preferred
  • Strong sales and business development skills, with a proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with sellers and internal stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive decision-making
  • Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and marketplaces, including seller onboarding, product listing, and order management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills, with the ability to close deals and drive revenue growth
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your work.
  • Team player who is willing to collaborate with others to achieve shared goals.
