We are seeking a Group Sales Manager to join our outstanding team.

Our Senior Sales Managers are responsible for managing new and existing accounts to ensure all revenue goals (room nights, average rate and room rentals) are achieved or exceeded. They solicit business and participate in organizations relevant to the specific market assigned. They stay on top of market trends and understand the competitive set, implement strategies and are driven to achieve results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients and meets with and entertains clients.
  • Regularly completes walk through site inspections with potential clients and maximizes revenue by selling all facets of the Hotel, both orally and in writing to previous and potential clients.
  • Handles all account details so that all aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.
  • Coordinates and communicates regularly with various department involved in servicing his/her accounts. Conducts pre-convention meeting when necessary.
  • Travels regularly both locally and out of town to solicit business from potential clients.
  • Follows all safety, hygiene and cleanliness protocols at all times.
  • Visits competing Hotels regularly to review Hotel reader boards in an effort to develop leads.
  • Prepares information, meets with and entertains clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.
  • Represent the Hotel at trade shows as specified by the trade show calendar and sets up exhibits at trade shows.
  • Compiles a list of prospective customers for use of sales leads based in information from newspapers, business directories and other publications. Conducts site inspections with potential clients.
  • Represents the Hotel at trade association meetings to promote the Hotel and restaurant.
  • Prepares and compiles all pertinent sales reports as assigned by the Director of Sales including but not limited to, booking reports and sales lead reports.
  • Inputs and retrieves information from the computer system for file maintenance,
  • Responsible for soliciting new clients, quoting rates and credit terms and the preparation of sales contracts.
  • Responsible for achieving quotas of sales calls, group bookings, including direct solicitation on potential new accounts via cold calls and referrals.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel.

Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of the travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.

  • Able to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to write Sales Reports and business correspondences.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages and sales volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine Sales Reports and business correspondence.
  • Meets legal age requirements for the position.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from college or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Prior Hotel Sales experience is preferred

PAY SCALE

The salary range for this position is $40.86 to $43.37, plus incentives/bonus. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, and education.
