The Quantum Space Sector seeks a highly experienced Senior Satellite Operations Engineer / Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading efforts to develop, integrate, and demonstrate capabilities for an end-to-end satellite operations ground system with the capability to fly dynamic space operations missions, leveraging a commercial cloud architecture.

The Quantum Space Sector seeks a highly experienced Senior Satellite Operations Engineer / Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading efforts to develop, integrate, and demonstrate capabilities for an end-to-end satellite operations ground system with the capability to fly dynamic space operations missions, leveraging a commercial cloud architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Satellite Operations: Oversee the operations of satellite ground systems and applications, ensuring efficient and continuous performance. Manage mission planning, command and control, and telemetry analysis.
- Systems Engineering: Develop and refine system requirements, design specifications, and operational procedures. Ensure system integration, testing, and validation adhere to industry standards.
- Mission Planning: Optimize satellite systems and applications to achieve mission objectives. Develop and execute contingency operations, satellite maneuvers, payload operations, and data collection strategies.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Work with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and ground station engineers, to ensure seamless integration and operation of satellite systems. Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance satellite operations processes, improve system reliability, and integrate new technologies.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of operational procedures, system configurations, and anomaly reports. Provide regular status updates and performance reports to management.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Clearance: An active DoD Top Secret security clearance is required for this position.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in satellite operations, systems engineering, or a related field, with a focus on satellite or space systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in satellite command and control systems.
- Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, satellite communication systems, and payload operations.
- Experience with telemetry analysis and anomaly resolution.
- Familiarity with software tools used in satellite operations (e.g., MATLAB, STK, Linux).
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in satellite operations and systems engineering.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration capabilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Travel: Occasional travel (10%-20%) may be required for mission support and collaboration with remote teams.
Desired Skills:
- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Active DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility.
- Relevant certifications in satellite operations or systems engineering (e.g., INCOSE, NASA certification) are a plus.
- Operational experience or direct support to the Warfighter within the space domain.
- Experience with satellite ground stations and software development.
