Overview
The Senior Scientist will perform experiments aimed at identifying biomarkers and mechanism of action of tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy and serve as Translational representative in multifunctional teams. The successful candidate may also manage, guide or mentor one or more research associates or junior scientists.

Work Environment
This position will work in both an office and a laboratory setting. Depending on experiments or project deadlines, working evenings, holidays, or weekends may occasionally be required.

The Senior Scientist will perform experiments aimed at identifying biomarkers and mechanism of action of tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy and serve as Translational representative in multifunctional teams. The successful candidate may also manage, guide or mentor one or more research associates or junior scientists.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise one or more research projects aimed at identifying correlates of TIL clinical activity or mechanism of action.
- Design and execute research experiments involving a variety of protocols and techniques. Methods may include identification and functional assessment T cells, gene expression studies on TIL and tumor biopsies, and characterization by flow cytometry, NGS, or other methods.
- Analyze and interpret experimental results. Make detailed observations and record them in a timely and relevant fashion.
- Work with bioinformatic experts to identify immune correlates of TIL clinical activity
- Investigate and develop new methods and technologies necessary for project advancement
- Present experimental results in written documents and oral presentations in internal and external meetings
- Manage interactions with contract research organizations providing bioassay services
- Provide oversight and training to teammates
- Act as the Translational representative on clinical study management teams, facilitate drafting Translational plans, clinical protocols, lab manuals.
- Maintain a high level of professional expertise through regular survey of scientific literature and attendance of training and/or scientific seminars
- Contribute to Regulatory documents and scientific publications
- Comply with Safety SOPs, SDS sheets, and laboratory procedures per company policy and OSHA regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge
- PhD in Immunology, Cellular Biology, or related discipline required
- 8+ years of combined post-doctoral training and industry experience.
- Knowledge of immuno-oncology or immune mechanisms is required
- Prior experience working biomarker plans on clinical trials is required.
- Ability to independently carry out all lab experiments
- Strong interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent record keeping and organizational skills
Preferred Education, Skills, and Knowledge
- Experience with in vitro T cell functional assays, flow cytometry staining, and acquisition techniques is a plus.
- Prior experience working with human T cells and PBMC is preferred.

Physical Demands and Activities Required
- Must be able to move to and from the office to the lab located on separate floors and move about the office and lab as needed.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to grasp with both hands, perform repetitious actions such as pinch with thumb and forefinger, turn with hand/ arm, and reach above shoulder height.
- Must be able to use several types of laboratory equipment and pipettes for extended periods.
- Must be able to work on a tablet or computer typing for 50% of a typical working day.
- Must be able to move and lift 20 pounds multiple times daily.
- Must be able to use near vision to view samples at close range.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, lab coats, and closed-toed shoes, when in a laboratory setting.
