The Senior Scientist will beresponsible for day-to-day operation of the Pharmaceutical Technical Center,including laboratory processing equipment, instrumentation, and raw materialsutilizing LIMs as well as following GLP's and appropriate regulatoryrequirements. The Senior Scientist will also provide training anddemonstrations for IMCD sales and technical marketing personnel in accordancewith the objectives as coordinated with the Technical Director.

This position is laboratory-based and routinely requires lab scalepharmaceutical processing equipment and instrumentation use as well as standardoffice equipment.

Successful candidates will be responsible to:
Manage laboratory processing equipment, raw materials, and facility according to current health and safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Undertake innovative formulation concept development to support market/customer needs.
Undertake customer projects in lab and provide trouble shooting support to customers
Collaborate with suppliers on formulation projects to support sales and marketing activities as well as spotlight ingredient advantages
Coordinate and collaborate with IMCD global laboratory network to support global formulation strategies
Support preparation of laboratory training and demonstrations for sales and technical marketing personnel of IMCD US
Organize and administer technical workshops and give presentations without supervision
Support technical marketing group with key project activities in Americas through prototype creation and data generation

RequiredQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical, chemical, biological, biochemical, or related science. Additionally, Master's or PhD degree in pharmaceutical, chemical, biological, or biochemical sciences would be an added asset.
Minimum five years of experience in oral solid dosage forms in immediate and controlled release (blending, tablet compaction, pan coating, fluid bed, homogenizers, mixers)
Additional experience with topical or liquid formulation development is beneficial
Understanding formulation processes including ingredient selection, application, and characterization (powder flow, powder and liquid rheology, bulk/tapped density, particle size determination, etc.)
Experience with tableting & granulation equipment, blenders, stand mixers, HME, homogenizers, coating equipment
Experience with analytical equipment such as UV/Vis spectrophotometer and HPLC,

DesiredQualifications:
Master's or PhD degree in pharmaceutical, chemical, biological, or biochemical sciences or equivalent on the job experience
Two to five years formulation experience in a pharmaceutical company in an R&D formulation and processing capacity with a focus on oral solid formulations. Added experience on topical formulation development is a plus. Experience in a fast-paced environment

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is afull-time, in office/laboratory position, and the hours of work and days areMonday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise directed.Additional hours may be required as needed.

Travel:
Some, but minimal,travel is expected for this position.
