Position Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a hands-on technical expert and a key decision-maker in driving the evolution of our platform. You will work closely with engineering leadership and product teams to define our architecture, optimize performance, and lead major technical initiatives. This role requires a balance of technical excellence and business acumen to ensure that our platform scales effectively to meet business goals. You will be expected to mentor engineers, play a lead role in setting and driving best practices, and drive innovation within our engineering team.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

Define and drive the technical vision and strategy for our systems and infrastructure.

Make critical architectural decisions and ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and secure.

Identify technical debt and proactively work to improve system health.

Hands-On Engineering

Write high-quality code and set the standard for code quality, performance, and maintainability.

Conduct deep technical reviews, guiding engineers on best practices.

Own the delivery of complex features and initiatives, collaborating across teams.

Participate in the on-call rotation to provide support, as well as lead incident response strategies and reliability improvements.

Mentorship & Collaboration

Serve as a technical mentor to senior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

Partner with engineering managers to shape the teams technical roadmap.

Collaborate with Product, Design, and Leadership to align technology solutions with business goals.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends, bringing new ideas into the organization.

Identify opportunities to improve development processes, tools, and workflows.


Education and Experience

Technical Expertise

7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a Senior-level engineering position

Proven track record of designing, building, and scaling complex systems in a production environment.

Expertise with a full-stack SAAS software architecture.

Expertise with Node.js, TypeScript, SQL (MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB).

Expertise with a broad range of AWS services.

Expertise with microservices architecture and patterns.

Expertise writing tests at all levels (unit tests, integration tests, front-end tests).

Understanding of version control and general software development best practices and methodologies.

Experience with the agile methodology.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, performance optimization, and system design.

Additional Qualifications

Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams.

Comfortable driving cross-functional initiatives and navigating ambiguity.

Strong communication skills able to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Passion for building inclusive, collaborative engineering cultures.

Experience developing software for Healthcare environments (HIPAA) (Preferred).
