Senior SQL Database Administrator

Seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to support our VA customers in Austin, Tx. This position is currently REMOTE, but the candidate must be located within reasonable commute to the Austin area.

Location: Remote work while residing in the Austin Texas area.

Salary is based on experience and technical interview.
  • Salary range $100,000 - @110,000 Annually


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and maintain the operational environment; sustain capacity and performance requirements, optimize and tune databases for maximum efficiency, keep systems and platforms functioning at 99.9% availability, ensure data integrity through daily, weekly, and monthly checklists for monitoring of logs, database growth, audit reports, and backup and recovery processes
  • Conduct load and regression testing
  • Maintain and update the database architecture, perform database-related duties such as building schemas, tables, stored procedures, and applying permissions; provide recommendations on policies and procedures, maintain database utilities, and provide reports and scripts for task automation
  • Monitor systems and platforms for availability; oversee SQL clusters, database mirroring, database replication and failover, and provide technical recommendations on emerging technologies and trends in the commercial market
  • Communicate effectively both orally and written with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists. Effectively lead detailed technical discussions and develop and present required briefing materials to ensure the customer's needs are met
  • Participate in technical working groups strategizing for future requirements and propose architecture enhancements based on business needs and/or improving realized ROI
  • Perform monthly (or as directed) SQL Readiness Reviews (SRR). These SRR scans are required to ensure STIG compliance. Perform SRR mitigations and documentation updates to support the SRR scans
  • Assist with providing customized reports and/or data dumps based on the SCCM central database running Microsoft SQL Server

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience as a DBA within the SQL domain
  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field
  • Proven ability in a wide variety of development skills such as Java, J2EE, .NET
  • Experience with SQL databases and SQL servers, Oracle DBA a plus
  • Experience in enterprise content management a plus
  • Experience in high availability, load balancing and tuning
  • Proven ability to analyze, design, test, install, and maintain image capture, workflow processes and storage retrieval systems
  • Experience with Documentum 7.1 is a plus
  • Experience with Image file compression and conversion
  • Understanding of metadata concepts and the integration with external interfaces
  • Prior experience with Documentum, Captiva interface is a plus
