Primary Responsibilities
The Senior Staff Accountant is an integral part of the General Accounting team and will be responsible for ensuring accurate presentation of financial records. The Senior Staff Accountant will perform complex month-end close entries, balance sheet reconciliations, analysis and special projects as assigned. Additionally, the Senior Staff Accountant will collaborate with operations management teams to build financial acumen in those areas. Essential Functions- Compile, manipulate and interpret large operational datasets
- Identify and investigate drivers of financial metrics and variances
- Trace and troubleshoot system driven accounting processes
- Prepare and record accurate month end close entries
- Translate business processes into accounting entries and vice versa
- Perform cost and revenue analysis and benchmarking
- Serve as SME on financial questions to departmental leaders
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Assist Accounting Leadership with special projects
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude- Bachelor Degree in Accounting
- 2-5 years of experience in corporate or public accounting (distribution experience a plus)
- Must possess understanding of GAAP and ability to apply them to real world scenarios
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, report and communicate complex accounting processes
- Ability to interpret financial statements
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work with others in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation, proactively addressing problems
- Must have strong Excel skills and be proficient in Word and Outlook
Qualifications / Additional Skills / Aptitude:- Must be a self-starter and have the ability and willingness to effectively prioritize activities with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to work flexible and occasionally extended hours as needed
- Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and assure compliance with company and other applicable policies and procedures
- CPA, Workday or PowerBI experience a plus
- Willingness to work from office three days a week
