About the Role

As an early member of our data team, you will significantly influence the data architecture and strategy of Flow. We are in search of a Senior / Staff Data Engineer who is not only enthusiastic about designing, developing, and deploying robust data solutions but also committed to ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our data ecosystem. Your contributions will be foundational in driving Flow towards achieving its goals and making a huge impact on the decision-making capabilities across our entire organization.

Responsibilities
    • Design, implement, and maintain our enterprise-grade data architecture leveraging cloud-native technologies
    • Architect, develop, and deploy highly scalable and fault-tolerant data pipelines that power business intelligence and analytics capabilities across the organization
    • Establish and evangelize data governance practices, creating authoritative datasets that serve as the foundation for data-driven decision making throughout the company
    • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex business challenges into elegant, end-to-end data solutions that deliver measurable value
    • Lead strategic initiatives to evaluate, select, and implement cutting-edge data technologies that advance our data infrastructure capabilities


Ideal Background
    • Experience working in product & operations-heavy organizations
    • A minimum of 7 years of data engineering experience building scalable data systems in engineering-centric organizations
    • Deep understanding of the principles and challenges of ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and efficiency in distributed data systems
    • Experience mentoring and leading other engineers. We are seeking candidates who have either direct management experience or a strong desire to take on such responsibilities
    • A keen ability to strike a balance between elegant design and pragmatic tradeoffs, all while prioritizing continuous delivery of value to the business High proficiency in SQL, Python, and modern data stack technologies (BigQuery, Fivetran, dbt, etc.)
    • Extensive experience designing and implementing data solutions on Google Cloud Platform or other major cloud providers (AWS, Azure) Experience with machine learning operations (MLOps) and productionizing ML models, including building robust data pipelines for model training, deployment, and monitoring
    • Proven expertise with real-time data processing and streaming analytics platforms (Kafka, Spark Streaming, Dataflow, or similar technologies)
    • Experience building data solutions in fast-moving startup environments Strong analytical skills with an inherent curiosity to understand and solve complex business problems through data


$180,000 - $240,000 a year
