The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and optimizing infrastructure, supporting continuous integration and delivery pipelines, and ensuring that cloud services are effectively integrated into our development workflows. This position involves hands-on work with AWS, automation tools like Terraform, Chef, Jenkins, and Docker, and creating robust environments for scalable, secure, and efficient application deployment.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Linux Administrator to support our cloud migration and DevOps automation efforts. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and optimizing infrastructure, supporting continuous integration and delivery pipelines, and ensuring that cloud services are effectively integrated into our development workflows. This position involves hands-on work with AWS, automation tools like Terraform, Chef, Jenkins, and Docker, and creating robust environments for scalable, secure, and efficient application deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the migration of servers and data from on-premises data centers to AWS Cloud, ensuring a smooth transition and optimized infrastructure.
- Administer the entire AWS Cloud infrastructure, including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Route 53, Lambda, and CloudFormation, to support enterprise applications.
- Create and manage VPCs, define IP ranges, and implement security controls through Subnets and Network Access Control Lists (NACLs).
- Configure and manage EC2 instances, Auto Scaling Groups, Launch Configurations, and Load Balancers to ensure high availability and performance.
- Design and implement secure storage solutions, migrating data to S3 buckets and configuring IAM roles to provide secure access to EC2 instances.
- Set up and configure EFS for shared file storage and integrate it with EC2 instances.
- Use AWS SNS and Route 53 to set up notifications for server and infrastructure failures, keeping teams informed of critical issues.
- Implement and manage continuous integration and deployment pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Maven/Ant, and Docker.
- Create Jenkins environments, configure build jobs, and integrate them with version control tools (Git, GitHub) for automated code integration.
- Develop infrastructure automation using Chef, Packer, Terraform, and similar tools to manage environment configurations and deployments.
- Manage Docker containers and OpenShift for microservices development and testing environments.
- Implement and manage continuous deployment workflows, ensuring code is pushed and deployed efficiently from development to production.
- Create and maintain configuration management scripts using languages such as Python, Bash, Ruby, and PowerShell.
- Collaborate closely with testing, development, and operations teams to ensure seamless deployments and continuous delivery.
- Administer and troubleshoot production, development, and test environments across Linux and Windows platforms.
- Use bug tracking tools like JIRA and RTC for issue tracking and resolution across different environments.
- Write and maintain configuration management scripts, manifests, and cookbooks to automate infrastructure tasks.
- Manage environments for various releases, including DEV, QA, and PROD, ensuring optimal configurations for each stage of the software lifecycle.
- Work with application servers (WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat, JBOSS, Jetty) to deploy web applications and services.
- Provide ongoing support for cloud infrastructure, identifying and addressing performance or security issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, Route 53, Lambda, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
- Extensive experience in DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Jenkins, Git, Maven, Chef, Terraform, and Docker.
- Strong hands-on experience with build tools like Maven/Ant and configuration management tools like Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
- Expertise in setting up and managing version control systems (Git, GitHub) and implementing best practices for software configuration management (SCM).
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Docker and OpenShift.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Shell, Ruby, PowerShell) for automation and orchestration tasks.
- Strong understanding of software deployment and lifecycle management, including staging, testing, and production environments.
- Experience with application servers like Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic, JBOSS, or Jetty.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a proven ability to work across multiple teams.
Preferred Skills:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer certification.
- Experience with additional cloud platforms like OpenStack.
- Familiarity with bug tracking tools like JIRA, Redmine, or Bugzilla.
- Experience with orchestration and configuration management tools like Ansible and Puppet.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- This contract supports systems that require 24x7x365 uptime. Candidates must be willing and able to meet recall requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.
- Telework: Candidates must reside within a commutable distance and be available to work onsite at the customer's discretion. This includes being on-site during the transition period. Must be based around Annapolis Junction, MD.
- Bachelor's degree: Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree

- Strong customer service skills working with a diverse, multi-national customer base, and the ability to simplify and communicate complex technical concepts, both verbally and written.
