Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory - Materials Manufacturing (MM) subdivision within the Core Materials, Manufacturing, & Irradiations department is seeking a System Administrator to support information technology initiatives in the subdivision. The mission of MM is to provide specialized technical expertise to drive naval nuclear fuel and poison system technological advancement and effectively develop and transfer that technology from NNL to our customers. A System Administrator is needed to provide expertise in system configuration management. Specific areas of responsibility include:
Supporting the development of a new multi-site Authorization Boundary, deploying new IT systems as, well as maintaining current authorized IT systems. Examples include vulnerability scans, developing standard operating procedures, virus updates, and user account management.
Collaborate with technical and operational personnel to deploy new hardware and software to meet MM goals including mentoring technical and operational personnel on the IT tools available to them.
Hardware support including but not limited to troubleshooting laboratory equipment and PCs and assisting with new equipment purchasing.
Software support including but not limited to applying security technical implementation guides, operating system upgrades, troubleshooting, applying patches, and scripting new software.
Assess and prioritize the IT needs of the subdivision and interface with appropriate Enterprise IT personnel to accomplish MM goals.
This Senior System Administrator will team closely with Enterprise IT and compliment the IT personnel already in the subdivision.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills
Familiarity with the NNPP Cybersecurity Risk Management Plan.
Experience with industrial control systems, including programmable logic controllers and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).
Experience with Windows server and client operating system administration including registry and Active Directory Domain Services.
Linux administration experience.
Experience with scripting and programming (Batch, PowerShell, API)
Certified Network Administrator (CNA).
Demonstrated experience coordinating patching, system updates, and troubleshooting of clients, servers, and network hardware.

Pay Range

$83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations
