Summary: The Senior System Administrator is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the company's VMware environment, phone system, M365 environment, and Palo Alto networking. This role involves solving complex issues with software, hardware, and server systems to minimize work interruptions and improve productivity. The Senior System Administrator will also participate in the planning, design, installation, and upkeep of IT infrastructure systems, while identifying areas for cost savings and efficiencies. Additionally, this role includes mentoring and training IT associates.

Primary Responsibilities:

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
  • Acts as a key escalation point for complex infrastructure tickets, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Coordinates with IT Support associates to manage escalated tickets, track progress, and communicate updates to stakeholders, ensuring SLA requirements are met.
  • Analyzes recurring issues to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions to prevent future escalations.
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of various issues.
  • Runs diagnostics to resolve reported issues.
  • Supports business core applications as needed and provide Microsoft Windows troubleshooting.

System, Security, and Network Management:
  • Monitors and responds to system and network outages both inside and outside of business hours.
  • Reviews assigned daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly system reports and executes follow-up procedures.
  • Maintains, configures, and ensures the reliable operation of computer systems, networked servers, virtualization, and resource allocation.
  • Installs and upgrades computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
  • Executes patch management processes to ensure timely application of patches and updates to all systems and software.
  • Maintains an inventory of all systems and software, tracking patch status and compliance.
  • Conducts regular vulnerability assessments and scans to identify security weaknesses in systems and applications.
  • Collaborates with IT and Information Security teams to develop, implement, and execute remediation plans for identified vulnerabilities.

Infrastructure Management:
  • Administers and maintains the VMware environment, ensuring optimal performance and resource allocation.
  • Manages and supports the company's phone system, including configuration, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Oversees the administrations of the M365 environment, including user management, security, and compliance.
  • Configures, manages, and troubleshoots Palo Alto network devices to ensure secure and efficient network operations.
  • Implements and manages physical access controls to ensure secure access to IT infrastructure and sensitive areas.
  • Manages and maintains security camera systems, ensuring proper functionality and coverage.

Mentoring, Training, and Upskilling:
  • Mentors and trains junior team members, providing guidance and support to enhance their technical skills and professional development.
  • Develops and delivers training programs to upskill team members in areas such as VMware, phone systems, M365, and Palo Alto networking.
  • Fosters a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Contributes to the development of department procedures and processes.

Ongoing Education and Development:
  • Follows the IT Department Training Program to continuously improve and add to their skillset.
  • Participates in mandatory training requirements.
  • Attends relevant workshops and seminars.
  • Stays up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Recognizes red flags, scams, fraud, phishing, etc.
  • Stays current on applicable banking regulations and security procedures and practices to prevent fraud or other bank losses and to comply with regulatory requirements.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve infrastructure systems and processes, enhancing overall service delivery.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal associates and customers.
  • Participate in IT Change Management.
  • Participate in on-call rotation schedule as needed.
  • Escalates issues to IT senior management as needed.
  • Documents employee and customer assistance and interactions.
  • Completes work as assigned on time and with the highest level of quality.
  • Works independently and with a team as needed.
  • Multi-tasks and works under time constraints.
  • Completes all mandatory training requirements.
  • Participates in all required meetings and calls (whether in person or virtual).
  • Performs responsibilities during Bank hours by being physically present at the Bank an average of 40 hours each week based on banking needs.
  • May be required to work during non-business hours caused by IT service disruptions and/or scheduled IT maintenance windows.
  • Travels between Bank Branches as necessary.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and requested by management.
  • Reviews department policies and procedures to ensure work effort consistently maintains the integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.


Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred with a technical major, such as computer science, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • CompTIA Network+ Certification, Palo Alto Networks Certification (PCNSA or PCNSE preferred).

Experience: 5-8 years of IT experience with an emphasis on networking and server administration.
  • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, qualifying motor vehicle record report, and reliable transportation.
  • Proven experience in administering and managing VMware environments and Palo Alto network devices.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems and Microsoft 365.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.
