Position Overview

CriticalTilt, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SENIOR SYSTEM Administrator with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating systems, as well as Nutanix, Hyper-V, and VMware virtualization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong proficiency in virtualization technologies and platforms including the planning, deployment, and management of virtualized environments. The SENIOR SYSTEM Administrator will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing server and domain infrastructure systems that meet the organizations' needs. Once deployed, you will perform monitoring and sustainment of those systems/services and assess future needs.

Personnel Security Clearance

Applicants who currently hold a US Government personnel security clearance (PSC) are preferred. Applicants who do not currently hold a PSC must be willing to submit to required background screenings and investigations to obtain and maintain a PSC.

Key Responsibilities
    • Plan and design server and domain infrastructures while ensuring the interoperability of computing systems within the network.
    • Present system/service integration and upgrade plans to leadership.
    • Manage information and server security and compliance requirements.
    • Implement upgrades to hardware and software as needed.
    • Perform maintenance and repairs to server equipment and configured services.
    • Research systems, architectures, and technologies following industry best practices and staying up to date on advancements in the field.
    • System Maintenance and Monitoring:
    • o Perform monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning.
    • o Tune kernel and system parameters to optimize performance.
    • o Maintain system patches, updates, and security hardening configurations.
    • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
    • o Diagnose and resolve complex issues.
    • o Provide Tier 2 technical support for escalated incidents and service requests.
    • Configuration and Deployment:
    • o Manage, maintain, and configure services for Windows and RHEL servers
    • Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, SSH, and firewalls.
    • o Implement and manage system automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
    • User and Permission Management:
    • o Manage user accounts, permissions, and groups, ensuring proper access control policies are enforced.
    • Backup and Recovery:
    • o Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
    • Security Management:
    • o Ensure compliance with security policies, perform vulnerability scans, and apply patches for potential vulnerabilities.
    • Documentation and Reporting:
    • o Create and maintain accurate documentation of configurations, system changes, drawings, descriptions, and troubleshooting procedures.
    • o Provide detailed reports on system performance and incidents.


Qualifications
    • Have and maintain server operating systems certifications:
    • o Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
    • o Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or higher
    • o DoD Approved 8140 (DoDD 8570) IAT Level II or higher certifications
    • Have and maintain relevant security certifications:
    • o CompTia Security+ for Intermediate
    • o CASP+ for Advanced
    • Demonstrate proficiency in virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix), including the planning, deployment, and management of virtualized environments.
    • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage and integrate multiple systems and technologies within complex infrastructures.
    • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in system administration, with at least 2 years working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
    • Experience with enterprise environments, handling large-scale systems.
    • o Proficient in RHEL system administration tasks, including package management, system updates, and network configurations.
    • o Strong knowledge of shell scripting (e.g., Bash) and experience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef).
    • o Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., KVM, VMware) and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
    • o Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
    • Experience with the following technologies preferred
    • o Nutanix - Virtualization and Storage
    • o Rubrik - Backup Solution
    • o InfoBlox - DNS and DHCP appliance
    • o LogRhythm - Security and Event Log Manager
    • o Tanium - System Patching
    • o SCCM/MCM/Intune - System image deployment/management
    • Soft Skills:
    • o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • o Strong communication skills for interacting with teams and writing documentation.
    • o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
    • Security: Understanding of system security, including knowledge of SELinux, firewalls, and security hardening practices.
