We seek a skilled Senior System Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and validate cutting-edge solutions in dynamic spectrum access (DSA). This position emphasizes both algorithm development and practical implementation, leveraging AI/ML, AWS Cloud services, advanced propagation models, 4G/5G NR, and geospatial tools to optimize wireless systems. The role provides opportunities to work on a diverse range of projects, from developing algorithms to implementing scalable solutions that address real-world challenges in wireless communication and spectrum management. This role reports to our VP, Chief Spectrum Architect.

Your Impact
  • Algorithm Development:
  • Research, design, and develop machine learning algorithms for adaptive spectrum management, dynamic spectrum access, RF propagation modeling, and interference mitigation.
  • Train and optimize AI/ML models using large datasets of wireless measurements and radio environment data.
  • Conduct simulations to evaluate performance, complexity, and cost trade-offs.
  • Collaborate on architecting current and next-generation processing algorithms for efficient resource allocation.
    • Implementation:
      • Transition algorithms into scalable, production-ready microservices on AWS Cloud platforms.
      • Develop geospatial processing workflows using tools like GDAL, rasterio, geopandas, shapely, LAStools, and laspy to support spectrum analysis, planning, and optimization.
      • Participate in code debugging, verification, and product launches.

    • System Design and Analysis:
      • Utilize advanced propagation models and geospatial tools to simulate and analyze RF performance:
        • ITM (Irregular Terrain Model), E-HATA (Extended HATA), ITU models (P.452, P.2108), ray-tracing techniques (including AI-enhanced ray-tracing).
        • Familiarity with LIDAR data processing using libraries such as LAStools and laspy.
        • Proficiency in geospatial processing using tools like GDAL, rasterio, geopandas, and shapely.
        • Familiarity with commercial propagation modeling tools such as ATOLL, Planet, iBWave, and Hamina.
      • Analyze geospatial and wireless performance data to support customer optimization and planning.
      • Conduct architecture trade studies to assess and optimize system scalability, cost, and performance.

    • Testing and Prototyping:
      • Develop prototypes to prove key design concepts and quantify technical constraints.
      • Create and execute automated test frameworks, including unit, integration, and stress tests, to validate algorithms.
      • Conduct performance profiling and optimization for both cloud and edge-based deployments.

    • Collaboration:
      • Work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to align development efforts with project objectives.
      • Contribute to technical documentation, reporting, and patent applications.

    Your Experience
    • Education Degree and Related Experience:
      • Bachelor's and 5+ years, or
      • Master's in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied mathematics, physics, systems engineering, or a related discipline and 3+ years, or
      • PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied mathematics, physics, systems engineering, or a related discipline, with no experience
