WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
SUMMARY
The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining some of the National Hockey League's critical technology infrastructure. This includes many systems used for in-game operations, productivity, networking, observability, and security. Additionally, the Senior Systems Engineer will frequently partner with IT management, internal stakeholders, and vendors to define, design, deploy, and maintain new technology solutions.
Additional responsibilities of the Senior Systems Engineer include working on traditional IT incidents, developing new operational procedures, preparing systems and coordinating with users to perform updates/upgrades. This role will also be responsible for providing project management and coordination duties on small sized initiatives related to systems and infrastructure.

SALARY RANGE:
$130-150K

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Architect, configure, automate, monitor, and manage servers (physical/virtual), as well as associated storage subsystems in a timely, scalable manner
- Evaluate, test, implement and support vendor solutions in a timely manner
- Work as a Level 3 escalation point to resolve system and application issues
- Work as escalation point for urgent game-related issues/outages, outside of business hours, participating in an on-call schedule
- Work as part of a cross functional team, architecting and facilitating the standardization and automation of systems to ensure reliable, scalable, efficient, and auditable systems, leveraging tools like Terraform, Packer, DSC, PowerCLI etc.
- Ensure infrastructure complies with all company, regulatory and information security policies, procedures, and industry best practices
- Document and share information, designing support and operational processes used by our peers in the Information Technology group
- Guide and mentor junior IT team members to further develop their knowledge, skills and abilities
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
Required
- Minimum 7 years of experience managing highly distributed, Windows-based, production environments
- Minimum 5 years supporting and maintaining a VMware environment (ESXi, vCenter, vRealize, NSX-T and SRM) VMware Certification a plus
- You possess expert-level knowledge of Windows and VMware infrastructure including but not limited to the following areas:
- VMware Infrastructure, Virtual Storage, Backup/Disaster Recovery solutions (Rubrik/Zerto/SRM)
- Windows Systems and associated automation practice
- Multi-forest Active Directory, Group Policy, Active Directory Certificate Systems, etc.
- You have demonstratable scripting experience, automating, and monitoring infrastructure systems with PowerShell, Python, etc.
- Background supporting advanced VDI deployment technologies including but not limited to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix DaaS, Azure Virtual Desktops, AWS Workspaces etc.
- You have a strong understanding of zero trust networking and can demonstrate intermediate to advanced troubleshooting techniques when interacting with them
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking with experience in a zero-trust micro segmented environment
- Ability to create PowerShell scripts automating both VMware and Windows in an operational capacity
Education/Certifications
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft Fundamentals - Core Infrastructure and Security
