Job Summary:
The Senior Enterprise Systems Engineer will be responsible for the successful maintenance and support of mission critical Enterprise networks and systems within a global 24x7 environment. This role will focus predominantly on network, server, and storage systems engineering whilst leveraging skills across the environment to support regional IT teams, Application teams, and Business Units across the globe inclusive, but not restricted to, Manufacturing, Commercial, Genomics, HR, and Financial systems.
This role entails maintaining and creating new standards, operating procedures, and guidelines which are primarily, but not restricted to, global enterprise infrastructure. As a senior resource, this role is expected to provide detailed documentation, mentoring, and knowledge transfer across multiple technical teams as well as work closely with non-technical teams to deliver reliable systems that meet the needs of the company globally through large projects and key initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Analyze, evaluate, and advocate the adoption of best practices for Enterprise infrastructure within a Global model across multiple lines of business.
- Work alongside other parts of the organization - Service Design, Information Security, and Service Continuity to determine solutions and provide consistency and awareness of initiatives.
- Provide input into design and construction of new and existing Enterprise solutions across the environment, providing mentoring and knowledge transfer to assist in supporting collective deliverables. The role will also focus on ensuring Hardware and Software lifecycles are maintained and adopted.
- Monitoring incoming service requests, incidents, and projects to ensure that they are completed in a timely and high-quality manner.
- Ensure that facts and details are correct so that all project and/or program deliverables and operational environments will meet the needs of the stakeholders, policies, standards, and best practices.
- Documents all policies, procedures, standards, system administration activity, and disaster recovery procedures around building and continuing operation of Enterprise environments.
- Leverage scripting skills and available tools to automate processes to reduce human intervention.
- Ensure system configuration follows best practices and adheres to Cooper Companies security and SOX/HIPAA/PCI compliance policies and guidelines.
- Conducts routine infrastructure audits and provides recommendations for existing process improvement.
- Works closely with various IT groups including but not limited to project management, database administration, compliance, security, and application teams and assists in overall architectural design, implementation, and troubleshooting of complex Enterprise systems.
- Follows Cooper Companies change management practices.
- As business needs dictate, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory overtime.
Travel Requirements:
- Limited global travel may be required (20%)
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive experience with VMware vSphere virtualization platforms. VCP certification a plus
- Experience with HCI platforms and software defined storage technology: e.g. VxRail/VSAN/Nutanix.
- Citrix technologies with a focus around virtual apps and desktops
- Experience with SSO and IDP identity and access management (Okta)
- Experience with building and implementing infrastructure components with a secure, least-privilege approach.
- Experience in implementing strategies for protecting Enterprise Backup Data. Veeam/HYCU/Rubrik experience is preferred.
- Understanding of orchestration, automation, and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Puppet, AWS Cloud Formation, Azure Resource Manager, Kubernetes, Ansible, SCCM, or equivalent).
- Experience successfully implementing enterprise technology and modernization solutions (e.g., Infrastructure optimization, application consolidation, and enterprise technology integration), operational excellence, and/or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools: SolarWinds and LogicMonitor.
- Developing performance monitoring benchmarks and alerting thresholds.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical expertise, situational decision-making.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to transfer knowledge and information effectively within multiple business units with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated, self-directed, attentive to detail, and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

- Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, or related area of study required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Extended industry experience directly related to duties outlined above
