Amentum is seeking a dynamic and innovative Senior Technical Analyst to provide research, planning and analysis support to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

You will assist the USINDOPACOM J8 Resources and Requirements Directorate staff by coordinating with higher headquarters, Service Components, operational units, and DoD/Interagency stakeholders to provide subject matter expertise, lead assessments, and develop solutions for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Targeting (C5ISRT) and Experimentation Support activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Understand capability requirements and emerging technologies and ideas and make recommendations on the way forward to achieve operational imperatives.
  • Assess and improve modeling and simulation used by USINDOPACOM in support of planning and testing.
  • Assist in drafting J8 portions of the annual USINDOPACOM Commander's Testimony to Congress.
  • Serve as a member of the J8 Rapid Capabilities Council.
  • Serve as the J81 (Innovation and Experimentation Division) representative to at the following forums:
    • Joint Technical Coordination Group (JTCG)
    • Combat Air Forces (CAF) Weapons and Tactics Conference (WEPTAC)
    • Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) Weapons and Tactics Conference (WEPTAC)
  • Serve as the USINDOPACOM J81 liaison with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
  • Support the Command's efforts to improve maritime lethality, to include engaging with maritime lethality calculation organizations, and working with the Test Resource Management Center (TRMC) in preparation for data collection and measurements during Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) events.
  • Serve as the USINDOPACOM J81 liaison with Centers of Excellence and Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC) as required.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in preparation for the annual Pacific Operational Science and Technology (POST) conference


Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 15 years of experience serving as a multidisciplinary technical leader demonstrating broad subject matter expertise and proficiency across multiple scientific and technical fields.
  • At least 10 years of in weapons systems development programs, with expertise in supersonic and hypersonic missile delivery systems.
  • At least 10 years in engineering management roles (e.g. Senior Engineer, Engineering Manager, Principal Engineer).
  • Experience in developing vulnerability models, particularly in the maritime domain.
  • Experience in international engagement with Allies and Partners, particularly in the development of weapons systems.
  • Experience in conducting technical reviews and providing recommendations to senior leaders and providing technical solutions on defense capabilities.
  • Knowledge of the Indo-Pacific region.
  • Experience conducting research on a range of topics and functional areas.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient at authoring analytical and/or policy documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience serving as a multidisciplinary technical leader demonstrating broad subject matter expertise and proficiency across multiple scientific and technical fields.
  • 10+ years of in weapons systems development programs, with expertise in supersonic and hypersonic missile delivery systems.
  • 10+ years in engineering management roles (e.g. Senior Engineer, Engineering Manager, Principal Engineer).
  • 5+ years' experience supporting defense technical projects in the USINDOPACOM AOR.


The salary range for this position is $170K to $185K. (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
