THE PURPOSE:

As a Senior Technical Designer, you will partner with Design and Production teams to ensure all products are consistent with brand standards and seasonal design concepts for specific classifications. You will leverage your skills in garment grading/specifications, fit and construction, fabrics, sewing operations, and pattern making to fulfill these objectives.

THE ROLE is Fearless and Focused
Collaborate with the design team to develop initial specs for each new season
Team with Department Director and Cross Functional partners on competitive fit analysis meetings, and other relevant meetings
Responsible for day to day cross-functional partnership with Design, Sourcing Managers and Quality Assurance
Responsible to maintain quality and fit integrity/consistency from intial proto stage through production, while maintaining product design integrity within calendar deadlines
Ensure all product is manufacturing ready at time of order placement
Create technical packages for offshore production
Prepare and lead fit sessions for assigned categories and execute style to final fit, quality and construction. Communicate all fit, quality and construction comments/issues via e-mail to import vendors. Uses flat sketches and digital photo images as necessary to communicate corrections to a garment or pattern
Completes fit comments proactively and in a timely manner
Creates and develop block fits for each category
Strong Adobe Illustrator skills to express fit call out through visual diagrams.
Makes pattern corrections to vendors' patterns or pattern screen shot images as necessary
Ensures company grade rules and tolerances, and quality standards
Establishes fit consistency across vendors

MINIMUM BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Fashion Design, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in knits, Woven and outerwear technical design.
Menswear experience is Preferred
Strong knowledge of garment fit, construction and patterns across Knit, Woven & Outerwear.
Proficiency in any ERP software (Full circle is preferred) Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel
Highly proficient in understanding patterns, grading and the ability to make and explain pattern corrections to factories.
Sweater experience is plus
Strong understanding of the Product Development and Manufacturing Processes in partnership with offshore manufacturers, domestic importing, and/or foreign trading companies
Ability to manage the day to day development of product line that adheres to seasonal calendars and sourcing strategy. Track fit sample progress on T&A's from vendors.
Understanding of different fabric types
Strong awareness of production calendar deadlines and deliveries
Ability to manage within development calendar
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Team player and driving results is a must - Additional projects may be specified by management
