Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Therapeutics Discovery Technician to provide research support administration services for our government customer in Frederick, MD. In this role you will assist in the planning, development, execution, and evaluation of high-throughput screening projects for antibacterial, antiviral, and antitoxin therapeutic areas.

Regular hours of work with the possibility of Weekends or extra weekly hours if needed.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assist in the development of novel assays/methods and screen molecular compound libraries for therapeutic efficacy.
  • Perform in vitro and in vivo microbiological experiments to evaluate therapeutic compounds, including enzymatic assays, cell-based phenotypic and reporter assays, MIC, and plaque assays.
  • Support mouse studies, including inoculations, specimen collection, and analysis using immunological procedures such as ELISA, Western blot, and Mesoscale Discovery assays.
  • Prepare technical reports, SOPs, and manuscripts, and present research findings at scientific conferences.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidance.
  • Perform operations and training in animal manipulations and support animal studies for funded projects.
  • Provide a monthly Research Technical Report.
  • Communicate unexpected experimental data/results and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Maintain an orderly laboratory environment, coordinate supply orders, and assist in training new personnel.
  • Participate in regular laboratory decontamination, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Maintain laboratory records, equipment, specimens, and reagents inventories.
  • Cross-train and provide laboratory technical support to other areas as needed.
  • Present research findings at monthly lab meetings and attend weekly scientific discussions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, or a similar scientific field with 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in planning, developing, executing, and evaluating high-throughput screening projects and developing novel assays/methods.
  • Experience in antibacterial, antiviral, and antitoxin therapeutic areas.
  • Experience performing both in vitro and in vivo microbiological experiments.
  • Experience performing standard molecular biology techniques to support in vitro assays.
  • Experience in the development and conduction of immunological procedures including ELISA, Western blot, and Mesoscale Discovery assays.
  • Experience performing equipment inventory management (GFEBS preferred).
  • Experience performing laboratory management within BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 environments.
  • Prior experience supporting animal studies (mouse, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc.).
  • Experience handling bacterial and viral pathogens for in vitro and in vivo studies, with preferred experience in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 biocontainment labs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Clearance
  • BPRP and CS-PRP enrollment required.

Salary Range: $35.05 - $61.35
