Senior Thermal Engineer - Rover
Starpath's Rover team is building a set of high-speed, high-throughput mining Rovers for the Moon. These machines are designed to be the fastest, most powerful, and most capable in their class. Senior Thermal Engineer - Rover

On the Rover team, you'll own subsystems from defining requirements through to manufacturing and testing. Responsibilities
- Own the thermal systems of Rover components, from design and analysis through to verification and testing
- Define & justify thermal architecture requirements, conduct trade space analysis, create spreadsheet/MATLAB/Python first order models, and document decision processes
- Create and manage thermal FEA models along with detailed component level design
- Validate architecture and modeling via testing in a simulated lunar environment (TVAC)
- Interface with adjacent teams to cohesively integrate hardware with supporting subsystems
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience designing thermal control systems
- 5+ years of experience using engineering simulation software
- Experience with CAD and detailed engineering calculations/analysis
- A desire to make humans a multi-planet species
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate degree in a technical field
- 10+ years of experience in design of thermal control systems for space applications
- Experience with industry standard thermal analysis software (Thermal Desktop, or similar)
- A strong desire to make humans a multi-planet species
Position Details
- Location: Los Angeles - Hawthorne
- Salary base rate is $120k-$180k/yr, plus equity package; compensation scales with candidate experience
- PTO & health/dental/vision coverage included
