Ready to make an impact on your career, client projects and the community? Burgess & Niple is seeking aSenior Transportation Plannerto join our Portland, OR or Boise, ID office. The ideal candidate will work closely with B&Ns Pacific Northwest Region Director and the B&N Planning Team to develop and grow Burgess & Niples presence as a premier planning consultant in the Portland metropolitan area and beyond.

B&N Senior Transportation Planner Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a wide range of planning services to clients and develop new client opportunities in the Pacific Northwest
  • Manage key projects and work closely with a team of planners helping clients deliver comprehensive/master plans, long-range plans, corridor and project level studies, active transportation plans, area plans, safety plans, etc
  • Develop client relationships and engage in business development efforts with support from our marketing team and office leaders
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and internal/external project teams to identify issues, develop and analyze concepts, recommend solutions, prepare reports and other communication materials, and engage with the public
  • Assist in the development of transportation planning project proposals
  • Participate in delivering professional services related to all aspects of transportation planning to a wide variety of clients including state Departments of Transportation (DOTs), Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), and local governments

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 4-year degree in Urban/City/Regional Planning, Geography (urban), Civil Engineering or similar
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in community planning, transportation planning, or safety planning
  • Certification by American Institute of Certified Planners preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and detail oriented
  • Project management and business development experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; GIS software preferred
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, including the capability to learn virtual collaboration tools
