POSITION SUMMARY

The senior Treasury Risk Manager works closely with our business partners as the second line of defense to manage the Bank's risk exposure within our stated Risk Appetite, while allowing the business to achieve its goals. This role will manage the bank's treasury risk across multiple dimensions.

MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE

Key accountabilities of this position include:
  • Oversee and manage treasury risk encompassing interest rate, liquidity, funding, and capital risks.
  • Provide rigorous second-line oversight of liquidity, funding, interest rate, and capital management, reporting and related policies and procedures.
  • Challenge limit setting and tracking, MIS systems, models and assumptions used in the above risk areas and recommend alternative metrics, reports or model monitoring.
  • Review interest rate risk hedging program and assess hedge effectiveness and business impact.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance for the above risk areas, performing gap analyses to regulatory guidelines, interpreting regulatory changes, and contributing to responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Track regulatory findings, action plans and remediation, with challenge provided at each stage.
  • Collaborate with business partners in Treasury and Finance and other internal stakeholders to strategically influence risk-based decisions and support the achievement of the Bank's goals.
  • Develop new metrics and views as needed, to challenge existing approaches.
  • Leverage existing MIS systems and Google Cloud Platform's Python environment to drive innovation and automation.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in treasury risk management, with commensurate industry knowledge.
  • CFA certification is required.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Maths or Engineering is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Python and statistical/numerical software for quantitative risk modeling and data analysis.
  • Experience in stress testing, scenario analysis methodologies, and quantitative risk modeling, including the calculation of regulatory and economic capital.
  • Deep understanding of liquidity and funding risk management frameworks, interest rate risk, and capital risk oversight.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills to evaluate risk exposures and provide actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex risk concepts to senior management, internal stakeholders, and external regulators.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in risk management, with a demonstrated track record of ensuring compliance and implementing industry standards.
