We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Complex Casualty Underwriter to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for driving the financial performance of our commercial portfolio of complex casualty business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Performance: Strategically manage a commercial book of complex casualty accounts to drive financial objectives including rate, growth, profitability, retention, and new business acquisition.
  • Underwriting & Negotiation: Underwrite and negotiate renewals for a diverse range of customers, ensuring optimal coverage and pricing.
  • Risk Selection & Analysis: Lead account solicitation, perform thorough risk analysis, and establish pricing for core commercial products and services for both new and existing clients.
  • Cross-Selling Initiatives: Collaborate on cross-selling opportunities within Commercial Insurance to enhance product offerings for current clients.
  • Client Engagement: Engage with new and renewing customers as well as agents/brokers to negotiate coverage details, pricing structures, financial terms, and service delivery.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with agents and brokers in the Pacific North and South to achieve or surpass financial goals while developing effective business strategies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a dedicated team of underwriters, underwriting associates, customer service representatives, claims examiners, and loss control specialists.
  • Prospect Pipeline Development: Leverage agency travel and Tracker systems to build a robust pipeline of potential prospects.


Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience in complex casualty underwriting, including familiarity with combined general liability, pollution forms, retentions, and deductible programs. Expertise primarily focused on general liability, pollution, and umbrella coverage, with additional opportunities in workers' compensation and auto insurance.
  • Sales Acumen: Strong sales and marketing skills, with a demonstrated ability to position accounts effectively and close deals successfully.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven success in marketing, producer management, and new business development, with adept negotiation skills at all levels.
  • Team Player: Excellent teamwork and communication abilities, combined with outstanding negotiation skills.
  • Risk Analysis Background: Solid experience in risk analysis, particularly with complex accounts.
  • Underwriting Proficiency: High level of proficiency in the underwriting process, with the ability to work effectively alongside an Underwriting Associate.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to interact with customers and colleagues at all organizational levels.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, and pricing strategies.
  • Adaptability: Creative and adaptable approach in a dynamic business environment.
  • Location: This position will be based in our Chicago office, with responsibility for the Pacific North and South Territories.
  • Travel Requirements: Regular travel for marketing purposes to meet with agents, brokers, and customers is required.


The pay range for the role is $104,000 $177,100. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
